When you say later though, it’s not like it’s years down the line. It’s this summer, as in a few months time. That’s very short sighted. Imo the money would be better spent on someone committing to the club longer term than a couple of months.
I'm with RR on this one. Twine is decent, and will hopefully stop us dropping lower into a relegation struggle. Let's achieve a spot in the Championship first and see where we are in the summer. I'm hoping Twine will rekindle some good times with Manning..............And sign for us in the summer window.
Burnley will be back in the championship next season and Twine would be a important player to them. The issues we have is if he does very well his price will rocket-Burnley want hearsay 5 million-we were offering 2.5 million-if he does well that price will get closer to what they want. But a upgrade on what is here and what has just left us.
I’m wondering if Burnley are taking a gamble here on this one. Stay up and Twine will (if successful) sign for a fee. Get relegated and Brownhill will be off so may do a deal with his sell on clause. Other than that I can’t why Burnley would go through the hassle to recall him to send him to us. He was playing for Hull, not like he was sitting on the bench not getting any game time.
We won’t match their valuation that’s why he’s not signing for us now, in your scenario tell me, how does that change?
If he does well for us their price will increase, tell me if we won’t pay £5m now, how will we pay more in the summer?
That’s the thing that confuses me too , why bring him back from one loan, only to then loan him to us, maybe there is something that’s been agreed behind the scenes but just not included in the contract. You’re right why go to all that hassle.
Just don’t make any sense. But on a plus side I feel really old now as I googled Josh Brownhill and found out he’s 28 now!!
I'm not concerned if your crystal ball better than mine There may be more to it than meets the eye. I'm reading between the lines hoping for the best.
The recall a player to send to another club in the same league seems to be the new trend this season, Happened to Plymouth twice this window.
My point was they want £5m now, if he does well for us that’s going to increase to £6m or £7m which will price us out of any deal
Unless you’re right, which you may be, and there’s some agreement we aren’t privy to, I don’t see the point of a 5 month loan deal. I’d rather we bring in players we can build around, rather than short term fixes. If we needed a short term fix to prevent relegation fine, but imo we don’t .
Not sure you know for certain they want £5m. Who knows what discussions were had. As I see it we have swapped Weimann for Twine. A player that LM knows and wants. Decent business I would say.
Not sure if Twine will get us up the table but I’ll be more than happy if he can just get us up the pitch, maybe even the opposition penalty area,
Ashton, who knows who's correct in this. The one thing I may be hanging my hat on is the question........if we're miles away in our valuation, why would Burnley recall Twine from Hull ?
We don’t know for sure the exact figure, £5m is the one in the media, however whatever it is it’s more than we’re prepared to offer, the principle still applies though regardless of the actual figures.
If Everton do get another 10 point deduction, and possibly Nottingham Forest too, it will give greater belief to Sheffield United, Luton and Burnley that they can stay up.
Indeed, I raised the same question in reply to RoD. In principle though I don’t like short term loans, I would rather bring someone in permanently that we can build around. We all criticise when we sell our best players as there is no consistency, I see this in a similar light, no consistency.
