According to my family I just can't get my head past around 1987. Unfair I think as I sat through the Taylor Swift film with my 16 year old the other day....:emoticon-0103-cool: :emoticon-0120-doh:

Not only do I still listen to the music, I still dress like I did back then, too. It's either extremely sad, sort of cool (in a mad way) or hilariously funny. I get all kinds of reactions, but people seem compelled to tell me what they think ...

It should be obvious, to anyone with a brain, that I don't care a fig what people think. If I did, I wouldn't do it. I am busy being Brian...get on with your own lives!

Mrs B says that I don't play nicely with others. She has a point.

    <laugh> <laugh> well played Sir!

Yep I may be 61 but I still wear the old t-shirts must days. So much so that the family always tend to walk a few metres behind me when we're out... :emoticon-0103-cool:

I'm currently on a mission to listen to every album I have, digital I'm afraid as the vinyls are long gone. My OCD is forcing me to listen in alphabetical order...

Listen...I'm a Prog fan. Haven't been cool (or even luke warm or if ever!) since 1976. I certainly didn't survive nearly 50 years of abuse by playing nice! <laugh>

To be fair, I never wore a jewelled cape, my hair never reached my shoulders and I never staged a concert on the ice at Wembley Arena! But on the downside, my keyboard skills were ****e! <laugh>

    It's a fair Cop! <laugh>

I did wear tie-dye long flared sleeved T shirts and a long Afghan coat and owned a Mellotron and an ARP synthesizer!
My prog credentials are safe for now! <wizard>

A mellotron...seriously cool! The wizard sleeves and Afghan coat...not so much. <laugh><laugh><laugh>

I looove psychedelic music. It was the thing when I was 5 and it was a large part of the music that I was first exposed to.

The Lenny Kaye 'Nuggets' collections and The Damned/Naz Nomad love of the same has given me a certain healthy respect for those guys. Prog was too much for me. It's like Americans and cricket, they can't see the point of it lasting sooo long...but, very much, each to his own.

Music has played and continues to play a huge part in my life. I have no doubt that it has helped keep me young at heart, even if physically I am falling apart!
Hopefully you've picked up from previous comments on this thread that my musical tastes are somewhat more eclectic than just old 'Prog'. In fact I seldom listen to many of the those bands I grew up with. (Maybe the occasional Atmos or spatial audio remixes.)
Most Psychedelic bands were a bit early for me, although I loved the Santana and Moody Blues albums of the late '60's. Early Syd Barrett Floyd never really gelled, but I caught on to Meddle pretty quickly - perhaps with some mild chemical assistance <whistle>
One of my mates at school was Clark Tracey. Now an established Jazz drummer, his dad, Stan was pretty famous (in Streatham at least <laugh>), but despite being exposed to it at some length in those years, modern Jazz left me cold, as did the experimental stuff from Zappa etc. I do however strangely enough have a (un)healthy collection of the jazz rock / jazz fusion of bands like Return to Forever, Brand X and David Sancious.
My pop/rock collection spans from the very soft Neil Diamond, Paul Simon, through the (predominantly US) Punk and some New Wave, Police (& Sting), Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Talk Talk etc, Blur, Kula Shaker and then more recently modern Prog and even some Prog metal, although most of Opeth is too harsh for my tastes.
But then I look at how much I have spent on albums and gigs across Western Europe by Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree and The Pineapple Thief over the past 20 years and I start to think my tastes may be more limited these days!! <yikes>:emoticon-0148-yes:

A bit unfair on John Miles who had a decent enough career, but he would probably be described as a One Hit Wonder! <laugh>
He supported Elton & percussionist Ray Cooper at the Rainbow in '77 when I was on the lighting crew.

You're right, he was a nicer guy in those days. Last time I met him was after a gig he did with Jon Anderson at The Swan in Wycombe. I'm guessing that was around 2005/6 but I might be wrong...

Interesting site! I started off thinking it was a desperate attempt by the Beeb to raise some funds! <laugh>

Good to see Budgie & Atomic Rooster on the final lot. I have a few of their catalogues in my collection and I might actually look to recoup a few bob! <laugh>
