Not a realistic signing mind. Been injured this season and is only just coming back. They'd want 10m+ i'd reckon, thats what they paid for him and he's only 23.
Me either but having a guess I’d say £10M+ and we certainly won’t be spending that on one individual.
At some point soon players like him need to be realistic, or we will stagnate. It might not be easy, but we have to be prepared to work hard on incoming tfrs. KLD talks about elite performance culture, that extends to tfr business. If players like Sargeant arent within our reach, promotion feels some way off tbh and we need to be more patient with coaches
We need to be prepared, in my opinion, to start to raise the investment levels now. I dont expect crazy money and it doesnt need it. Take Ryan Hardie at Plymouth as an example, he would be excellent for us in my opinion, but will take prizing out of a championship side. Josh Sargeant not the mainan at Norwich, but will be a stretch to bring here financially. He would be tramsformative as a 9. These are just incremental improvements that feel like they should be in our gift.[/QUOTE] Ryan Hardie is probably well within our budget and worth a punt imo, maybe offer Matete in an exchange deal , then go for a the much needed DM , personally I would give O/9 a shot at it , its were he started out and he has all the attributes , less self control which should be easily coached out of him imo, and we could then see how Seelt or Alese are like alongside Ballard, we have options but seem very reluctant to try them out, I cant understand it tbh.
Yeah that's probably too much of a stretch. They wouldn't give us a bargain price either with us occupying the same part of the table.
The only clubs who spent that kind of figure on a transfer this summer were the three relegated teams and Coventry. All 4 made huge amounts on player sales. So if we want to be spending that much we simply have to sell, but judging by the reaction to the Clarke/Neil rumours that wouldn't go down well so i'm really not sure what the club are meant to do? Can't spend if you don't sell but can't sell because it would piss off fans.

He isnt a 20 goal man, but we need a 12-15 goal man who can glue the front 4 together. For some reason players like him dont seem to fit, probably because he will have no sell on. But I doubt it would be a big fee, so why worry. Sometimes players can impact a season or two and the value is great, sell on isnt a thing. Hemir, Mayenda may need a role model to learn from, and he aids their sell on. Probably wont happen, just throwing names around, I am a little doubtful we will get the striker we need and I am normally more upbeat. Other clubs are moving already, hope we dont leave ourselves short again.
And all of those 4 are ahead of us in the table mate. I am not so sure it would be a big fee. £6m, couple of sell ons? My in laws are Norwich and they think he has stalled there and the club would do business. I am an amateur at tfr deals, but... loan with obligation to buy in the summer, for a a set fee. Accept in the summer we are losing Clarke or Neil for £20m plus. I think most fans know that is happening unless we go up. Sargeant gives us a chance at promotion. Doesnt seem beyond reasonable. And the lad is 23, best years ahead of him.
Can play cm as well, technically very good n got good pace. Would hit the ground running, pretty sure hes only got 6 months left on contract
Sargent is not in our price range imo, hes a quality striker at this level n he will cost anout 10 million. We arent in a position to spend that on 1 player unless we sell 1 or 2 for big money
Yeah because they have money we don't have through no fault of the current custodians of the club? And Sargent 10m minimum and certainly not on loan. Been injured this season but plays and scores when he is fit. Plus they paid 10m for him and he's only 23.
The 4 big spenders in the league in the summer- leeds southampton Leicester n coventry all spent a lot because they all sold players for big money No championship side should be spending 10 million on players unless theyve sold players for good money We need to be sensible with our spending, more teams get crippled financially trying to get to the PL than teams succeed by spending big fees on players Spending 10 million on a player doesn't include the signing on fee, agent fee, bigger wages for that player plus their bonuses

This post isn't a dig at you personally mate ... ... please believe me, I'm getting enough flak already. I keep seeing *this sentiment being repeated and it just screams 'slippery slope' to me I'm afraid. It's always 'just a little bit more, just a little bit more'. I'm no different to you and want signings then more signings until we buy our way into the PL. Sadly I've seen it all before whereby clubs bring in better players on better wages which means increasing the wages of existing players. If it fails there's the summer window where you can buy more players and chase 'what you've lost'. Before long you become a gambler forever chasing your losses until, one day, the bailiffs turn up and you become another Reading. Of course I'm simplifying things but there are so many Championship clubs on the brink, like Bristol City, it makes me shudder.
£10m is unrealistic for him, no way. What they paid has no bearing on what they get. Norwich have some challenges with FFP according my in laws and they need to hustle. A loan now, to shift wages, might well be attractive. The numbers would work for both sides if an obligation to buy. Writing it off as undoable doesnt sit well with me. If not Sargeant we need to be bold. Buying young lads from Europe wont cut it alone. At some point we need to make a move in players that will impact today. Ryan Hardie is tailor made for us, he has to be achievable, otherwise we are miles off any sort of promotion push. We moan like mad about coaches on here, without much consideration of the tools he has to work with. We keep buying players who might be ok, not ones who will be ok. It needs a mindshift at the club, and a rebalancing of approach, or we stop expecting coaches to have magic wands. Maybe I am impatient. This Jan we have a chance to push. I hope they take it. It has to be a player with high level experience though, no more untested lads. Maybe it wont happen and we will raise £40m in the summer and go again. But as it stands we need some real help on the pitch.
It was me who said that mate, Clocky was quoting me. Believe me I am not advocating reckless spending. I am all for a sensible approach. Part of me is making a case to stop whinging about coaches when we are being readily outspent. Another part of me doesnt think the 4th lowest wage bill in the league should be where we need to be anymore. I am assuming we have room to manouvre, and that is what I am arguing for. I am all behind the owners. They are doing a good job. I just feel we should have a bit more behind us now to squeeze the accelerator a bit more. Might be wrong, but just sharing my observations.
So he wanted the club to be self sufficient before he got his inheritance, I think it was well know that he was going to get that inheritance. So what your saying is now he has it he should be spending even though from day one he wanted the club to be self sufficient
