In a parallel universe we don't sign Rothwell and then on 2 Feb Stuart Armstrong, who is quite partial to a niggle, gets injured and derails our promotion push. Good, experienced signing who I'm sure will more than do a job whenever he's called upon.

Downes 100% is and, whether we go up or not, will be playing premier league football next season. Fraser I don't know yet but we should certainly look to sign him next season as he will be cheap and as we know, a good option from the bench.
Presumably weren’t prepared to pay the fee. Like with Tella. They basically signed two central defenders for the fee he would have cost. Kind of did similar in spreading out their money rather than stumping up for Tella. Hindsight would suggest that was a mistake. This is assuming THB wanted to go there permanently. He might not have done
I agree about THB and Downes being good enough for the PL next season. I'm less convinced about Fraser.
Yeah, I wouldn't be in a rush to sign Fraser permanently. Even in the PL he can be useful in the role we deployed him in for the first few months -- 75th minute sparkplug -- but he also has a history of getting pretty tetchy in that role.
