Thanks. At least someone is man enough to come clean. Hopefully 'virtually everyone' else owns up too. The next question. Jammy thinks you should apologise because Bamford has obviously proved you wrong. What's you're response to Jammy on this? Have you learnt your lesson?
Shall we now start on your rubbishing and instant dismissal of Gruev as player following his debut at Stoke ? Or we can carry on with Paddy being the worst striker that's ever played for us (including L1) if you like
betterment of the club - never heard so much bullshit! He could have been sent to train with our U21's for several weeks! Its all well and good taking the more high ground UNTIL it costs us promotion, then suddenly ALL our best players once again run for the nearest exit! Side before self et all means absolutely nothing to players of today!!!
Ah, the Stoke game. That the one where Paddy missed a penalty at 0-0 and cost us points? Thanks for reminding us about that. On Gruev, I didn't instantly dismiss him. I recall saying I felt a bit sorry for him. He was thrown to the wolves that night by Farke. His first start after hardly featuring should have been Huddersfield at home a few days later. Not Stoke away on a mid week game. He was poor that night and I think I settled on the view that we wouldn't see too much of him unless injury forced Farkes hand. I've been proven right on that too. He's not displaced Ampadu or Kamara so he will only play when players are injured. Like at Cardiff when Ampadu went in to defence. To make it even clearer for you, he was **** at Stoke. In every game since he has improved. I even gave him man of the match yesterday as his performance deserved it. His performance at Stoke was poor enough that he should have been took off after half an hour. Ultimately Bamford off the bench cost us a possible 3 points that night.
Bamford got the lucky break for his goal as the bounced off Firpo’s leg as the keeper/defender tried to prevent it going in. He then went on to miss the one-on-one with the keeper and side footed one wide from about four yards. The link played up so I couldn’t follow much of the second half. As I think Emu posted Bamford needs a lot of chances and these misses could bite in playoff games. On the debate about Meslier and his rating, not much has been said about how lucky he got charging out of his area, definitely a heart in the mouth time for me. Other than that they only had one shot on target, which was a pretty tame effort. Don’t remember many heart flutters when Klaesson played. Mes is Farke’s first choice and he knows their game far more than me.
Just going to pop back and have a litttle reread of the Stoke matchday thread. Won't be long back Tuesday at the latest. Love ya
Just me,you and 33,000 in the ground supported him,he has his faults for sure and is crap when his confidence is shot, but always gives his best.
It's not about not supporting him or doubting him giving his best. It's wether he's good enough and reliable enough.
He's the best we have, and a lot of clubs would love him,if we had better they would leave for premier league football.
I know me and Jammy go back and forth but all joking aside this is where I'm left scratching my head. After all the injury problems, the confidence problems, his age, the missed chances at vital times Paddy is still "the best we have". I don't dislike the guy. It just makes me nervous that he seems to be the one we have to rely on. Hopefully he carries us through but I've seen the confidence cycles he goes through and if he goes through a sustained trough in form in February then it could scupper the season. Then it's last chance saloon next season.
This is roughly where Bamford stands compared to most of our centre forwards over the years. John Charles 0.91 (goals per game) Beckford 0.56 Yeboah 0.51 Chris Wood 0.50 Chapman 0.46 Jimmy Floyd 0.46 Viduka 0.43 Allan Clarke 0.42 Becchio 0.39 Hankin 0.37 McCormack 0.37 Mick Jones 0.33 Bamford 0.32 Rodrigo 0.29 David Healey 0.26 Jimmy Greenhoff 0.24 Alan Smith 0.24 Antenucci 0.24 Brian Deane 0.23 Not great but aslo not bad considering his barndoor reputation. No doubt some bright spark will say he should have scored a lot more in that Bielsa side, but for balance he also had 3 season in the PL with 2 of them in a struggling side that eventually was relegated.
