The Leicester game was an audition for today’s game. It was clear the opposition to a man were better footballers. Bulut set up the team with a 3 man midfield consisting of Ralls Siopis & Wintle which automatically gave Leicester total possession and which limited our attacking options and as such an away win was guaranteed. So when planning the team and tactics for todays opposition one hoped Bulut would have learnt from the Leicester fiasco but no. Colwill is patently our best attacking player but Bulut went the defensive way and hoped to keep a clean sheet and rely on corners for our goal threat, which all but conceded the game before a ball was kicked. From the kick off it was just predictably constant possession from Leeds leaving City no attacking options with the majority of passes going backwards to Alnwick. Some of our players showed how limited they are. Siopis has been found out. Bowler has gone backwards. Etete is not good enough at this level. Meite is no goal threat. I could go on. Today showed the gulf between the top teams and City again is chasmic. Not only was each Leeds player a better footballer than ours (in terms of basic skill and quality) they gave 100% constantly and fought for every 50/50 ball. Ok we won’t play Leeds again but it’ll be the same when Southampton and Ipswich turn up unless there’s a significant input of players, a change in the setting up if the team to be more offensive plus of course the return of Ramsey.
We're so far behind Leicester, Leeds and Southampton. They've all walked over us - the gulf is enormous. At the moment we can only aspire to match the likes of West Brom and Hull who've outplayed us on the day. Attain that level and we're in with a chance of competing for the top 6 but we're a million miles even off that at the moment. That's going to cost serious money because the current squad is nowhere near good enough to maintain any sort of challenge. The temptation must be to consolidate and go again next season but the questions still remain over the management of both the players and finances. Both need to be got right or we'll be saying the same thing this time next season.
To be fair to the sub standard managers we've had they haven't had a pot to p1ss in since the Sala tragedy loan players go out on loan for a reason, occasionally we may pick up a EPL youngster who is on a mission but generally we pick up outcasts from their parent clubs. I don't want to sound like the scousers (Hey eyye calm down) but we haven't had much luck lately what with the embargo and all that, selling our better players, Sol Bamba announcing he was being treated for non-Hodgkin lymphomahas, even sacking NML meant we gave another club a decent player for free (why us, and why isn't it the Ugbo's of this world getting caught powdering their noses ?)
Well said. With the exception of Rambo which was largely driven by himself, the effect of the embargo seems clear. That said, are we going to be any better off now that we can buy? Have we got someone to go after the right players for the short and long term? Perhaps remote can come up with an idea on how to fix this! In general, I'm with what Hilts has been saying on various threads about Bulut over achieving with both hands behind his back. Yes he's made mistakes but when he's had just that little bit of quality available, he's got results. In fairness, he's got a result or two even without the quality, though it could be argued that then it was because of poor opposition. Mid table with what we have is an achievement and perhaps he deserves the backing of Tan. None of the above means we should be resting on our laurels. Repeating what's been said for a few seasons now, the club needs an injection of direction with a board with some footballing knowledge and experience. So we'll done Bulut thus far, now let's hope you get something more to work with. Blooooooobirds
First 5 games we played Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich so stop complaining they are better. This manager threw away 2 goals leads in 2 of those games and there is the real cause of our problems. Bulut has won only 4 of the last 14 games so he is the problem. Ettete and Bowler had 2/3 players on them all the time and not one player marking Meitie that tells you they know the skill players and make sure they take are of them. We on the other hand leave one player on each of their wingers which shows Bulut has no idea who the skilled players are. If we had Malky, Warnock or Morrison we would not have to put up with this rubbish.4 wins in 14 seriously, how many more games is he going to lose before you wake up?
Jck like a stuck record. Unable to have a conversation with a range of different views. Just his opinions.
It gets a bit tedious when some can only post about me....talk about boring then what the hell are those comments they would fill a book. If you actually have something to say about the football try posting that instead of hoping to reply about me. Give it a rest, you can do better bit like the team really total lack of efforts in these posts about me but I suppose it stops people having to think for themselves relying on me.
It may help if you said something apart from the boring rubbish you repeatedly turn out. Same old, same old. If you don't have something new to say then keep your repeats to yourself. You seem to think yours are the only opinions that count. Newsflash!!! They don't!!! What you say is valueless and a waste of time for anyone who bothers to read them. Now why not pop off to the Sheffield Wednesday board in support if your favourite player. You would enjoy it there. You can voice your opinions to your heart's content and no one will argue with you.
10 points from 30 isn’t great BUT those games have included 5 teams who have a much better squad than us and no financial constraints - WBA, Hull, Southampton, Leicester & Leeds. The 3 wins have been all scrappy results with a fair amount of the run of the green - PNE, SW & QPR. The home form is shocking - a single point versus Plymouth. The next 14 days will probably define how the rest of this season pans out, not only incoming players in the window but the return of Ramsey.
Ralls out for the foreseeable. Ramsay back next month (allegedly). Just one more game to the end of the transfer window. I just can’t wait to see all our new signings!
