Having watched two England players tonight for Man U I have come to two conclusions: 1) Ashley Young isn't a centre forward and never will be. I've always thought he was a bit over-rated, but tonight he's had an absolute shocker! 2) Having listened to all the talk about Phil Jone's best position being centre half, I have come to the conclusion that it ain't! He's been shocking there tonight and looked very much like David Luis. Looks like a midfielder to me. Thoughts?
I went to the San Paolo years ago. Maradonna was playing for Napoli as was a young Zola. The crowd were amazing, really passionate. I was 10 at the time and the fans were really accommodating and moved to make sure my brother and I could see. At the end of the game one of the fans gave us a Napoli scarf and said 'Forza Napoli!' Have had a soft spot for them ever since.
My thoughts are.... QPR will be supplying Team England in five years or less, and everyone will be saying that QPR won us the World Cup in 2018.
Didn't watch the game but I rate Ashley Young. You're right, he ain't a centre forward, much better coming through the channels imo. Great touch and positioning. When you watch him live, he looks a bit awkward in his stance. A bit hunched? His mobility is a bit deceptive, you don't reckon he can get to some of the things he does. He's very cool on the ball - and accurate. Haven't made my mind up about Jones yet.
Yeah...fair description of Young Brix, but my God, he was awful last night, as was Jones at centre half.
Oh don't get me wrong....I'm not calling either of them a "donkey" or anything. I know Young is a good player, I just find him a bit disappointing some times and, yes, I feel he's a bit over-rated. As for Jones, I think he's an awesome talent, but I don't think he's a centre half. Much the same as David Luiz should play in midfield, I believe that's the position for Jones too.
