Lacking a clinical striker but guess they all do at the bottom . First game back and a big VAR talking point . Surprise surprise ! Goal allowed. Keepers usually get protected.
Maybe it's my anti-Luton bias, but am sure VAR got it wrong again. Burnley keeper looked to me to have been barged over by a Luton player as he went to catch a high cross - and the ball ended up in the Burnley net. "just a coming together" my backside...
I actually thought that the keeper played to get a foul. It looked from my settee that he crashed into the back of the Luton forward before throwing himself to the ground.
In a way you can see it wasn’t an obvious foul but keepers usually get one for the smallest of touches so again comes down to subjectivity and inconsistency. Probably would have been given as a foul if it was against a big team at home .
Keeper has made a bit of a hash of that. Outside of the goal area so he's fair game anyway. GK Union hat on, it's a goal. Refs hat on, it's a goal. Yellow tinted glasses on, it's a goal. Sigh.
I guess the trouble is once more we wlll see a similar sort of incident and the goal will be ruled out so that frustration gets to people . The lack of consistency but most decisions are subjective
Since Callum O'Hare came back for Coventry they bave been extremely good . Bit of help today maybe though.
Just watched it again and haven't changed my opinion - from the reverse angle Adeyemo quite clearly deliberately pushes his hip/backside into the keeper and knocks him over. Even the Sky Sports pundits, who last night said no foul, changed their minds, Paul Merson quite vocally too. I can only assume that VAR didn't view it from that angle.
Reading fans have invaded the pitch and interrupted the match against Port Vale. Not happy with the owners apparently.
Watched a bit of Forest Green game, which was pretty painful. Troy has his job cut out with that bunch of players, but they didn't seem to have any real pattern of what they were trying to do. I wonder if this will turn out to be a painful experience for him.
Looks like the Sun have caused offence with their headlines about a tragedy again. Don’t learn do they .
Disgusting really - their 'journalists' should be given the Liverpool treatment and be banned from all football venues, or, preferably, all sporting venues.
An article about TD and Forest Green https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/01/15/troy-deeney-forest-green-rovers-rescue-non-league/ Perhaps BB can provide a link to the site that avoids having a sub to the DT, I can't remember what it is. Tx.
