Sucks to be him. Went to Oxford to play regular football. Got injured. Has no contract. Town are flying. A great servant during early days of the McKenna era and our promotion.
Great dribbler and comes across as a positive influence in the dressing room. Unfortunately, not much end product when he played for us and highlights how much we’ve pushed on as a club over the last year or so. Frees up our wage bill and allows him to sign a contract for a club that will start him. Won’t be surprised if it is Oxford, as he was apparently a handy player for them.

I really liked Edwards and actually felt he played a crucial part in our promotion last season. He came into quite a few games where they either looked to be getting away from us or the tide was starting to turn and really had an impact. He was strong, got hold of the ball and importantly unlike a lot of players who came on for us in the forward positions seemed to be able to keep it and carry us up the pitch. From what I understand McKenna probably would've kept him over the summer but he wanted to go out and play first team football which given his age is understandable. I do think we have actually missed both Edwards and Leigh down the left this season, as they both offer different skills to what we have currently in the side but particularly useful coming off the bench, both had very positive impacts and seemed good personalities. McKenna actually noted with the signing of Sarmeinto that we hadn't got anyone in the squad who could do what Edwards could for us last season.
If only he could have added consistency to his game, he could lift the crowd with some skillful ball play but then be anonymous for half an hour so much so that at times i forgot he was there,good luck to him and im sure he will get a Club probably Oxford.
Leigh is a far bigger miss than Edwards imo, never understood why we let him go!! For me, Edwards.....mehhhhhh!! A bit like Hutchinson, all fur coat and no knickers!!
I think both players didn't want to be subs. We have missed Leigh, but I reckon he wanted away otherwise McK would no doubt have kept him here.
