I wouldn't argue with any of that....We play some great attractive stuff, but there's little end product...Hasn't been for a while.. We need to turn it around asap, though I suspect a midtable finish is on the horizon...Good that we'll avoid relegation...I guess LR wanted to mention the refs performance, but bit his tongue. The red card assault on Coyle...Their keeper doing a Schumacher on Connolly, and giving them the free kick....Fecking incredible.
I’m maybe not talking about the physical attributes, I think we need someone I there with that winning mentality, that then rubs off to those around.
I thought that was a bit of a sad outcome. 100% should have been a red for the elbow on Coyle which may even have been a deliberate attempt to maim, given Coyle’s eye socket problem earlier in the season. It was utterly cynical. There were also two blatant stamps on top of feet - and one was on Connolly, again in my view absolutely deliberate. The subbing of Jacob (who was solid bar one unpunished mistake) for Vaughan seemed incomprehensible and was punished with their second goal. So dirty Norwich got three points. What was clear though was that getting Carvalho won’t make up for losing Delap, and until Philogene and Seri come back we will continue to fall down the table.
They knew what they were doing, clattered him twice and we got **** all from the ref. When they were on 4/5 yellows though we should have given them a tougher ride.
It's hard to keep finding ways to talk about these games. Same things time and time again. If we won the games we dominate we'd probably be top 2. We have to stop conceding the first goal. It happens every week, usually when we're completely on top, and then it gives them something to defend, and Norwich did that very well. We showed our usual wastefulness in front of goal as always, although at times it was unlucky tonight as opposed to poor finishing; some of the saves Gunn made were very good. Sometimes you have these days where everything seems to go against you, the opposition scores with their one chance and then sits back and shuts you out. But it's become almost the norm for us this season. It's quite ridiculous now the number of points we've dropped in games we've totally dominated.
Agree with most of that, but he had to create something from zero options on the bench, so went three at the back. Made perfect sense. It did confirm to me that despite him supposedly bulking up, Vaughan will continue to be bullied at this level.
Allsop wasn't really at fault for either. But. We have a keeper who's a sweeper, and we have a stopper who ****s it with the ball at his feet. Lots riding on Pandur.
Probably the most frustrated i've felt all season. Feels like everything is going against us right now. On the whole I thought we played well and certainly deserved something out the game. It's clear to me that we're a very good team at this level. But down to a combination of poor squad planning and being so soon into a new ownership we're having to carry players who just aren't good enough. No fullbacks and no wingers has cost us too many times this season. With Philogene nearly back and a left back + winger on the way I think we'll see a different City from February onwards. Fine margins tonight. If we score during that frantic spell start of the second half we probably go on to win. Or if the ref was capable of doing his job. Or even if Connolly could've stayed on. His pace in behind would've been a nightmare for Duffy.
he wasn't at fault tonight, but he's cost us points Plymouth (h) Swansea (a) Watford (h) QPR (a) All keepers make ricks so I 'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's not good enough....
I’ve just seen the Gunn challenge on Connolly. Anyone who doesn’t think that’s a red card in today’s game is probably slightly living in the past. Excessive force and out of control. It’s a textbook red regardless of the fact he reached the ball first. Even more annoying that he went on to make several outstanding saves.
It's just the usual inconsistencies of football. If an outfielder does that it's a red card (a Fulham player actually got one after a VAR check a couple of months back) but keepers are actually taught to go up with the knee like that and it's just accepted. The fact he gave a foul against Connolly is obviously a complete joke, honestly though I think he did that because it was early in the game and he just didn't want to deal with a big decision that early on in what was at that point a very tame match. Cowardly decision, but I think refs do think like that sometimes, especially further down the pyramid.
As Connolly came off / into the tunnel he was coughing his guts up and looked concussed red card one, red card 2 on Coyle - still not sure we would have won... Trying high crosses into the box in the land of Giants was never going to work...
This is an issue. We're terrible at putting balls in and finding a City player, whether it's low or high, from deep or from the byline, our crosses always get cut out. We seem to know it's a weakness too, because we're generally reluctant to cross, we try to find other openings instead, but sometimes when a team sits very deep it's the only thing that's on. Definitely something we need to find solutions for.
as much as it could happen, a mid table finish for this side is dreadfully poor. I don’t see that happening with all our players to return and window to finish, if it does after everything that’s happened I’d seriously look at the gaffer. (I’m that confident we won’t finish mid table and I’m fully onboard with Rosie)
