The Admiral Jellicoe pub on canvey island , a good cure for teeth , later the waters edge or the goldmine as it was later called we had some good nights there Can't remember the name of the club the Feelgood played in , it was next to a large fuel refinery, not unsafe in anyway
RIP Annie Nightingale, Radio 1 evening show, Sunday late show and The Old Grey Whistle Test , she was a true pioneer and music fan
The "Festive 50" when I listened to Peel were chosen from tracks released over the calendar year of the show : https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/festive50s/1980s/1987 Cannot say whether all of them were actually played at least once on his show.
In my loft I have 8" reel to reel tapes from the the John peel shows and the jonny Walker, roger Scott shows plus anything else that I liked , that always included the festive 50 of that year but I do not have a reel to reel player anymore
Her rare skill was being attuned to what was happening in the underground (the Rave and Breaks scenes notably) , without being at the forefront of it (which was more often a trait of Peel) .
There's been a sudden release of tickets for forthcoming gigs - the Vive Le Rock awards night (at the dreadful Islington Academy - ), New Model Army, Jesus & Mary Chain (both at The Roundhouse) and the Lenny Kaye Nuggets Anniversary gig at The 100 Club. I am banned from Ebay...probably forever. Addendum: Now there's Ferocious Dog, London Calling and Transmission...all at The 100 Club, plus more tribute acts, Creedence Clearwater Review, Transmission, The Doors Experience and The Pogue Traders at The Half Moon. **** retirement. I need a second job!
