the chav away fans apparently also booed the pakyers who tried to go over and applaud them for coming. I don't think I've seen a lfc crowd in my memory boo the team and certainly never under klopp. (1-6 on last day v stoke I can't recall) all fans booing does is rack up pressure on players if they are actually trying. it'll be interesting to see if boro can survive long enough to get these fans to turn at home.
They had actually put a few results together of late (albeit against no one of note) - I saw Palmer instantly **** off down the tunnel, so maybe it had something to do with that?
what? the fact a 21 year old who was probably embarrassed by his misses went down a tunnel rather than lick their holes?
spain has sold out its fans by moving the super cup thing to Saudi fans being warned to not be seen and such as obvious the average Saudi will scream infidel in their faces etc. fans in Europe need to wake up and start making their respective authorities very aware thst this won't wash.
pochettino must qualify for Europe or be sacked. so it's league cup or bust basically. hilarious situation that they cannot see why their club is such a mess and may well repeat the errors. the cl is gone completely at this point. the fa cup is a more likely route to the europa than 5th but villa are a massive tie right now. they are only a few points off 7th. they are thst bad but nobody is pulling up trees in the prem as everyone can beat everyone. it'd be hilarious to think that boro might get poch the sack
It's amusing seeing Poch's style of play at Chelsea. He insists on playing a double pivot every game, no matter how inferior the opposition and no matter whether the opponents use a low block. That's why his teams are annoyingly competent against us but struggle against the lower sides. His tactics generally worked at Spurs because they had Kane and Son. Chelsea don't have anyone even close to those two.
it would not be such an issue if the rest of the team functioned around it. in some ways i am wondering if we are moving full cicrle here in terms of tactics and this 4231 wiht 2 blockers stuff is obsolete. 442 might come back for all i know. Villa are sort of doing that. LFC play with inverted single full back as a quasi 6. Spurs play with their full backs charging about everywhere and anywhere but out on the wing. (are they 6s 8s or 10s **** knows) City play with a Cb moving to 6 and their full backs sort of being cbs in a 3241 formation to get 4 attacking cms behind haaland. Arsenal are playing once cm with a cb at rb and loads of attackers that can't score. Pochettino is sat there with an OAP at cb with another cb at LB due to injuries and some very average young players who are struggling to come to terms like gusto and disasi. Are we seeing the two 6s protecting the CBs while those full backs bomb on? no. Then you've a player like Gallagher at 10 when he should not be so pochettino is always going to struggle in that scenario. Its not about 2 6s but about square pegs in round holes around it imo. they have so many options and none of them really fit or gel at all. Palmer has done well but is a young lad fresh out of city u21s really. you have to have some patience that he won't always be top notch. Sterling could be left wing or 10 if they like but not rw and poch insists on that sometimes. Nkunku is back and could be 10. Jackson isn't being given patience either. Broja is not up to it and needs a loan to really get match fit imo. They could easily go 343 here. Colwill Thaigo and A.N.other. That might suite gusto more. They'd need to find a brat who might bother to work as LW/LB. they shoudl then just go with plamer right, sterling left and jackons/nkuknu helping for false 9. thier issue is theres no world class players anywhere in the line up. before even though they were filthy cheats there were battle hardened top classi cheats and pros in thier line up. Azpi, courtois etc etc etc. I honeslty think that while pochettino might look a dinosaur tactically i doubt many could get much more out of this lot they have now. Sacking pochettino will make no difference to them at all and just demonstrate yet again a complete schism between their transfer strategy of playing 25mil for 100 young players and their level of patenice in seeing results and performances. Keep the players and staff for 2 seasons min and then see what the improvements are.
that just goes to show doesn't it. His problem is he arrived before the bohely madness so is probably seen as a waste of space or an asset to be sold to balance books. As i recal he's a tiny little lad who only played a few games for them and is a perma-loan type player
fa cup 4th round is confirmed for Sunday 28th Jan at 2:30pm. absolutely no help with the fact there's midweek game son in the league there then fairly typical TV approach. I was hoping this would be a so what kind of game given it's at home and possibly Norwich but the TV companies must be desperate to fake show a real cup tie alongside the premier league clashes.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/67950169 it seems not all is rosey at newcastle. we seem to have a chief executive treating it as her personal cookie jar while losses are raking up.
In 2021/22 we finished 2nd on 92 points with 94 goals scored and only 26 conceded In 2019/20 we finished 1st on 99 points with 85 goals scored and 33 conceded (big drop off in defence post covid) After 20 games 2021/22 we had 42 points, 52 goals scored and 18 conceded 2019/20 we had 58 points (unreal total) 49 goals scored 14 conceded Today we sit with 45 points, 43 goals scored and 18 conceded If we look at the forwards Salah 14 Jota 5 Nunez 5 Diaz 3 Gakpo 3 IMO in the remaining 18 games we need to keep up the good work defensively, maybe more focus if anything but the forwards needs to sore more of these chances. There's certainly the possibility to go on a big run of games ourselves but imo it will be through scoring more goals if anything. We need a couple of these guys to get up to 15 goals (so 10 in 18 games) to really feel like we've got a chance imo. Jota could do it but nunez? i doubt it. I'd take a few more assists out of him.
We had a goal-scoring machine with MFS up front and a constant supply of deliveries from the attacking full-backs. Now the strikers are more a set of talented individuals than a cohesive group, the RB strays from the wing, is back in his defensive role less frequently and the LB is consequently a bit more withdrawn. It's hardly surprising that we're not churning out the goals as we used to. We can't just replace like for like, and atm we're not even trying to. Klopp, like any good manager, is just trying to find the best system for the players he has and working on adding to them incrementally.
Think we have the best defensive record in the league and it’s comparable to those seasons. That is despite the injuries to both left backs and taa in this new role. Obviously it’s helped by vvd being back in form, Konate really stepping up and still having the best Gk in the world. But defensively although we look a bit more open with no proper 6 - those years had prime fab cutting everything out - we are still statistically doing well.
we still need to get the goals up and the goals against are not going to decrease much. 18 games with needing to win whatever, 16 or something. You could win 1-0 for them all but thats not likely 2-1 is more likely statistically as a result We are reliant on salah is what i am seeing with the others getting a few goals. Theres 4 others who have 16 goals. if we got say those 4 all getting 10 then great. but really we need "the first choice 2" to partner salah and get 30 goals. If klopp chooses to rotate diaz nunez, jota and gakpo and the total get up to about 40 from those 4 then that'd be brilliant no? 15 apiece from 2 of them and 5 apiece for another 2 (they will exceed that) would be 40 total. we are on 43 scored now. To get to say 85 then that'd be 39 goals more and more than 2 goals a game. If the 4 have 16 now and get to 40 then thats 24 more goals out of them and another say 10 out of salah as well means we only need 5 from round the team Really 2 goals a game form anywhere and our klopper would be happy. If nunez never scored again but got 10 assists he'd be happy. What i critiqued Arteta on was piling pressure on the forwards. Klopp would do the opposite and make it about the team. thats why he gets more out of these players I think we just need to get more goals in the second half of the season but in the end thats only a means to winning the required games. the way VVD konate and alisson are playing also looks like they are really fighting to concede none and taking it personally. I love to see that too.
Yes and 2nd best attack, behind Citeh Which is pretty good, considering all but one team in the league is averaging at least 1 goal per game this season
our remaining games A.F.C. Bournemouth (a) Chelsea (h) Arsenal (a) Burnley (h) Brentford (a) Luton Town (h) Nottingham Forest (a) Manchester City (h) Everton (a) Brighton (h) Sheffield United (h) Manchester United (a) Crystal Palace (h) Fulham (a) West Ham United (a) Tottenham Hotspur (h) Aston Villa (a) Wolverhampton (h) We've a good run coming up that we need to exploit between arsenal and city, that's for sure. Realistically those have to be won. We then have a big old run of games from city down to the last 5 games and i think those games need to be exploited as well. I think our run in 5 games are winnable but all tough. we need to be ahead going in there and really on it. I'm looking at this as city are 2 points behind us here. they should be the favourites as they've the trophies repeatedly cheated into thier cabinet.
Well if you look at the home v away, then the top half and bottom half, then figure we won't be on top form for all 18 then there's still a very big group of games there that are must wins we are played 10 won 9 drew 1 v bottom half. theres another 10 of those games to come. that include the derby kick fest and fulham away which are imo hardest. If we took another 28 there it'd be pretty cool We have 8 top half clashes. of those 5 are top 6 games but 3 are at home, including city. out of the top half we played 10 and only won 4 and drew 5, just losing the spurs scandal. if we won 4 and drew 4 of those top 8 clashes then thats 16 more points that'd bring us to 89 points. 5 draws and 13 wins. I suppose city could do better if they do go on that run that the press are sure is coming. The survive salah being missing games A.F.C. Bournemouth (a) Chelsea (h) Arsenal (a) the must win block Burnley (h) Brentford (a) Luton Town (h) Nottingham Forest (a) The game where the media make out its make or break Manchester City (h) the must win block part ii Everton (a) Brighton (h) Sheffield United (h) Manchester United (a) Crystal Palace (h) the run in Fulham (a) West Ham United (a) Tottenham Hotspur (h) Aston Villa (a) Wolverhampton (h) That run in actually looks tough to me.
