The Clarke situation is a good test of how fans will react IF he is sold this window. I am fairly relaxed about him going as i honestly believe the money would the be used to improve the starting 11 in more than 1 position. I use the Liverpool selling Coutinho as the perfect example, Liverpool rinsed Barcelona for a huge amount of money when they sold him, but used that money to get in VVD, Salah and a few others that set them off towards the top of the league. I am fairly sure if you asked any Liverpool fan now if they think what the club did was fantastic business they would easily agree. If he doesnt go then we enjoy him while he is here, if he goes then he goes with my best wishes as i love watching him play, but the bigger picture is far more important.
Agreed. There’s a fine line between letting wind up merchants (those who are deliberately provocative) get away with comments and doing what they want - which is arguing and getting people riled. ‘Yeah, whatever’ is a good reply. Top thread, btw. We need a lot of positivity and counting our numerous blessings to counter the recent hostility.
The main thing that I cant get my head around is the regular claims that we are buying on the cheap and selling our best players. Me personally, I'm surprised, up till now, at the reasonable amount we have spent on the squad overhaul and how few key players we have sold. Most teams in the Championship havnt got a pot to piss in nor have they the player assets that we have. Some clubs struggle through season after season with administration and points deductions hanging over them. How anybody can complain at our plight on this front totally baffles me.
This, great post. Time to look forward to Saturday's game and ignore all the negative noise. Hhhaaawwwwaaaaayyyyyyy the lads
Having just finished Sir Bob's book and seeing what he did for the club in a new light and respect, I think KLD is going about running it the same way. He decided to get it right on the pitch first to generate interest with the fans and imo it's the most important part of the club. Yes off the pitch isn't great but if they have been spending money redoing the AOL then it'll be "one of if those jobs on the list". Doing forget that there will be legacy contracts left over from Laurel and Hardy that needs to expire before it can be tackled. Maybe it won't all be done as quickly as we like but I do believe it will be completed. As for the fan base, the amount of posts I've seen on the likes of FB, having a go at the club beggars belief. The club are going to do things we don't agree with and yes we will post things to vent steam but at times it does cross the line. I do believe that KLD has the best interests of the club at heart and he would've put this across to both KS and members running the club off the pitch. We as fans need to trust him and be patient
@EverythingBCFC Tony Mowbray on the rumours of why he left Sunderland ‘I didn’t have input on players, I will have an input here, I won’t go into meetings saying ‘don’t sign him’. It is ultimately my philosophy, we obviously need players to suit that.‘ #BCFC || @EverythingBCFC This feels the same as the reason Neil left us. I really hope this model we have is the way forward, because im not gonna lie, im beginning to feel very doubtful
1.42 PPG with Mowbray this season, 1.85 PPG without him. Mowbray was the problem and I personally am happy to see the back of him and his whinging and tactical stubbornness. Oh and it went so great for Neil without the support system we have here didn't it? Bet he is so glad he left to gain all the power at Stoke.
Whinging? When did he ever whinge? We had zero strikers the back end of last season and he nearly got us promoted and with no fit CBs aswell. I never heard him moan once?
Really? Nearly every press conference both this season and last season he has whinged about something, yet we are picking up more points without him.
Once Neil had a say in signings Stoke plummeted towards relegation ... ... Mowbray worked with some of the best young players he's ever likely to at Sunderland. He knew the deal when he signed and took the money.
Im not bothered about Neil, im just mentioning him because this was also the reason he left us apparently. Of course he'll regret it now, hes had a fecking nightmare at Stoke. Mogga was sacked though for voicing his concerns, Neil thought the grass was greener at Stoke. I cant help but feel abit concerned and disheartened with how this past 6 months have gone.
He got sacked a month ago, how can you look at stats so soon ffs? I can honestly say i cant recall him ever moaning, he had a smile on his face every press conference i saw him
he knew he wouldn’t be picking players when he came and he was happy with the model until he got sussed out and couldn’t change his tactics, then all of a sudden we needed experience. I’m glad he’s gone, he did better then expected and then fell off like expected.
Because we all see it and say it daily on here. We need an experienced CDM and a striker thats actually played in the UK before, speaks the language etc.. It must have been pretty frustrating for him tbf having a squad of inexperienced kids to manage and nurish ready to sell on for a profit
rusyn isn’t a kid tho and already proved he will score he just couldn’t find a way to change it and get them scoring. Mowbray is just using excuses to make himself sound better hopefully with him having control he will come and get his boy dack.
He cant speak English and never played in the UK before. Our season has severely been affected waiting for kids to adjust to the Championship. We should have had a striker and a CDM sihned and not have Neil as our only experienced CM on only his 3rd full season
