ITV interviewer starts by saying "it wasn't straightforward was it" <doh>

    Which not surprisingly, surprises Dalot.

Not really, they're saying he's lacking confidence (not effort) and I'd agree with that.

They all are up front tbf.

But that he didn't play well!

I didn't say he lacked effort tonight, he just wasn't very good and made no attempt to do anything other than shoot.

Yeh they said they were expecting him to score more goals.

Which is ridiculous as he's the only one that consistently got it on target and at least tested the goalie.

And if they're saying he didn't play well because of that then none of them did.

More goals than zero, probably yeah.

They also pointed out, correctly, that he provided no end product at all, ran into blind alleys, and hit shots when he should have been looking to supply.

His lack of confidence is evident but that doesn't excuse a bad performance.

And yes, that applies across the front line, we should have scored five or six but at least Garnacho, Bruno, and Hjolund himself attempted to get one another involved.

Rashford can't wear both hats. If he wants the left side to basically be his, he has to accept that does not make him the striker as well, he also has to look to give his team mates opportunities and not just always shoot himself. If he thinks he should shoot at every opportunity he should maybe consider not sulking when asked to play centrally.

It's as if sometimes he just won't consider a ball in to Hojlund.

Antony gets dogs abuse for his lack of supply, Rashford's lack of contribution is worthy of comment.

I'm not really arsed how it affects him and England, which is what the pundits always want to discuss, it's how it should affect his position in United's team.

He was dropped for a few games, came back allegedly refreshed, yet I don't see much improvement myself.

Considering his lack of goals or assists, Rashford contributes absolutely nothing. His tracking back is half-hearted, and his defensive duties are, by and large, ineffective. ETH should put Granacho back on the left, give Antony another crack and put Rashford on the bench. He is in danger of turning into another Pogba.

Apart from Garnacho, Mainoo, and the few games Eriksen plays, no one contributes anything from the midfield up <laugh>

But yeh lets not mention anyone else lol

When Rashford plays badly and lets the side down I call him out. But I'm not going to single him out in a game when 3/4 other players performed worse than him.

Unfair IMO, yes others up front aren't banging in the goals but they are all putting in a shift to try and improve things whereas Rashford is playing for himself these days. Hojlund can't be faulted for his hold-up play and his positioning, Garnacho wants to score a spectacular goal each time he has the ball but he is running defences ragged and is banging in some decent crosses. Rashford is off on his lonely little planet again, the same as he was when he became too immersed in the day to day workings of his food charity, noble work of course, but the club put the money in his bank account that enables him to do it, so his first duty is to the club and the supporters - always.

I don't have anything against Hojlund or Garnacho. Up until yesterday his lack of supply to others I put down to poor coaching which applies to all our players.

So if I'm not blaming them when they've not scored or assisted in a game then I'm not blaming Rashford either.

The only player who improved over the past 18 months was Fred, and he's gone lol. Add AWB possibly also.

No, I'm talking about Bruno, does fck all. Wigan had two breaks yesterday, one from Bruno running into a cul de sac and giving the ball away, which he does every game. The other from a corner...by Bruno when it was played to one of their players on the edge of the box! Without someone like Eriksen next to him he cannot command a game. Creates little and scores hardly ever. Antony does fck all in terms of assist or goals as well.

But yeh bcos they both run around like headless chickens lets give them a bye.

Last night we were let down by our finishing from multiple players and 2/3 decent saves from their gk as well. That was it. And little, if any, of that lies at the feet of one player. It's a wider problem, I'm amazed ppl can't see it.

What's even more amazing is you can't see the disintrest in anything but himself coming from Rashford! I find it very hard to believe he is told to 'just ****ing shoot'. If he is then yes, the manager is the problem!

The team across the front and midfield were technically poor, but only one is jogging about, again. You shouldn't get £350k a week to play walking football. Plus, he shirks tackles. The rest you mention don't, whether that's deemed headless chicken football or not.

It was all worthy of note, so I pointed it out.

One thing that did seem to slip past everyone last night was how utterly ****e McTominay actually was. Garbage football, league one standard. Gets the odd goal though, so all OK.

Please, when the **** are Casemiro and Mount ever going to be fit (are they even still alive) so we can have a proper midfield formation behind a front three, not this patched up abomination?

Stand out performer of the last few games, Mainoo.

Vid showing every touch against Wigan, won the ball back a few times, accepted the ball when closely marked and never once gave the ball away.
Pushed us forward a lot too

With another like him in midfield we could really make progress. No frightened to make a mistake, always looking for space, always looking for the next pass, hardly ever holds on to the ball for more than a few seconds. Can't wait to see him and Martinez in the same team.
