Go to 2:37 on the video to see my most memorable moment from Luke Ayling. In to the last few minutes and he produces this lung busting run to pretty much guarantee promotion......
Best of luck to Ayling. Can't think of any v club that has seen a better return from £200k. A player who gave his all for the club and one of the few that even during the bad times looked liked he really cared. This is one of the few players leaving that actually gers me in the feels a bit.
So after Farke predicted a quiet window it would seem we can now expect at least 2 new arrivals before the end of the month. The alternative though could be one major signing using the wages saved on both Ayling & Spence. Quality not quantity would be my preferred choice
Can we make a statement signing is the question ? A player who’s up there with the best we’ve got and will improve us from day one.
It would be nice to sign a replacement in time for your next game rather than allow the departure first
Get where you're coming from but also think the smart thing to do is shift those that need shifting asap. Plus we've only got more 2 leagues games this month and the squad we have is more than enough for those.
Luke Ayling got what it meant to be Leeds as per Bielsa. He helped to bring the fans and team back together and it really upset me to see him going today even though I knew this was on the cards at Peterborough. What I don't want to see is us paying silly money for someone who does not come and play for the shirt, for the fans or for the team. We saw what being Leeds meant to all the rats who deserted the sinking ship and I certainly don't want to see anymore like them here. I would much rather go for a player who will give their all to play for Leeds and even though I know there are no guarantees, as Luke proved, you don't have to cost the earth to be that gem.
He’s right footed mate so it’s a no to Kylian for me. Are you going to break the bad news to him or shall I?
Totally agree, but the reality is that success not only brings it's own reward it also brings the downside. We all fell in love with Bielsa and the team he created. But getting to the premier league inevitably meant strengthening the team, and that meant bringing in (arguably) better players that (definitely) cost a lot more money. And along with "big money" comes "big name" players (in their own minds at least) with big egos and agents to match. It's no coincidence that the ones that jumped ship are the ones signed after we got to the prem. Leaving us with the players who got us there in the first place, the likes of Ayling, Cooper, even Bamford. We've all said if we don't go up this season we'll lose Summerville, Rutter and the rest. That's just football these days, but it means players like Bill will be remembered by Leeds fans for a very long time to come, while those other toe rags will soon be forgotten.
Having squad depth was always a concern of mine in the January before the rug was pulled out from under Bielsa. If we had gone for players he wanted rather than Orta choosing who he wanted, I honestly think we wouldn't be in the position we are today. He would have got them playing for US regardless although I've no idea if they would have cost more than those Orta chose. You've to make your money work for you and can still pick up gems of players that don't have to cost the earth and with their egos/agents to go with it.
Rather than buying a load of rats for ten or fifteen million maybe three quality players per season would have been the job
