I know David Maxwell buys, trains, rides and everything else but that ride on the 2nd in the Bumper at Doncaster was as meagre an effort I have ever seen, even by his standards. It definitely must go down as a non trier. Anybody else see it?
It was a strange one wasn't it? At first glance I thought he was just wanting to give the horse a nice gentle introduction and let it come home in its own time. At the wings of the last hurdle it looked like the penny suddenly dropped for the horse at exactly the time where the jockey decided to stop trying. Suddenly he was gaining hand over fist on the first 3 and the jockey decided to give it another go. If you compare Maxwell to Skelton in the last 2 furlongs you'd have to conclude that Off The Jury would have won with a better jockey. Looks a nice horse nevertheless.
4th but Maxwell's should have won by a street, will probably win not, but can see him being much of a price
Please explain to me how on Earth it wasnt worth a visit to the stewards room. There is only one possible answer.
Ha. The geldings ears were pricked from the 2f all the way to the line, but no probable cause, Ha again, he's been part of an inner circle since early last year. Whole can of worms if he ever appeared in a stewards room, let alone get a telling off. Just hearsay of course.
