I doubt we were, and for me , yes, we do. Jobe has said himself it’s not his favoured position, Pritch is quality but can’t sustain it for full games back to back. Carvalho can also play left or right (even if for me 10 is best position), carries the ball, eye for a pass and eye for a goal. Any club at this level needs players like that, he’d have filled the Amad hole nicely for me.
Aye we have the numbers but are either of those ready to play every week? Carvalho kinda bossed this league with Fulham. Rigg is 16 and I’d fancy Adi plays more games in the right than as a 10 for us. Simple facts are he would have improved us. Won’t argue there’s ’bigger need elsewhere’ but if a player can improve your side and it’s doable then try and do it, surely?
Not disputing that. But they ain’t getting it this season. We aren’t balanced and Carvalho would have helped with that. Doesn’t matter now anyways as he has gone elsewhere, but he is a better 10 than we have.
Sooner or later we gona have to turn to some of the squad players we can’t keep running players into the ground
Agree he’s been underused but flip side he can’t be playing full games back to back yet either. Mowbray for all the love was guilty of playing same lads even when they looked jaded and that’s still happening. As said above Jobe looked absolutely done in Saturday and it’s not the first time this season. He needs a breather.
That’s certainly the case with Jobe. I’ll never understand how he got 90 minutes on Saturday. Ridiculous.
I don’t expect him to play full games back to back, not at all. I’d expect more substitute appearances though, definitely. He’s hardly featured. We’ll lose him soon if he doesn’t get proper minutes here. He’s quality.
Thought Jobe said he didn't like playing as a striker? Not heard him saying anything about being a 10 (FWIW I think he's 8 with potential to be a 6) Aouchiche, Pritch, Ba all play there.. Dack too if he ever gets fit. I think wide positions are the key ones to fill (as well as striker obvs)
