I’ll be amazed if he chooses us now Bayern have come calling. Whilst on the face of it, he’s likely to get more game time for us, let’s remember that Kane left us to win trophies. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bayern’s late approach was partially a get your own back on us not buckling to their demands on what we wanted for our own player, who happens to be the best striker in world football.

the question now, IMO, is who do we move onto, and quickly? I guess this will also mean that Eric Dier won’t be going to Bayern! <laugh>

Half our side is home grown which is why we're not good enough, so yes it is most certainly all about money.

The pure days ended long before TV money.

It's a shame but as I said to DH yesterday, gambling in the region of £10-15m a season on a youngster in the hope that we unearth the next Bale or Dele is perfectly reasonable and affordable for a club of our size.

Things become a bit silly when we are dropping north of £30m on totally unproven young players. They'd have to become among the best in the league to significantly increase their net value if the starting investment is so high. We basically bought Gil and expected him to turn into a £50-60m player. It doesn't make any sense.

Conte also saw various members of our U21 squad in training - serving as training cones

The real issue with Conte (okay, one of the real issues with Conte...) was he also saw several of our first team in the physio room yet played them for 90 minutes every match anyway, which is another reason why our fanbase were crying out for Gil in particular to get minutes as Son and Deki were both clearly not 100% yet the obvious option to give them 10-15 minutes rest was never used

It's hard to get out of the negative mindset regarding our transfer dealings, but things HAVE REALLY CHANGED.

We now have a full-time, dedicated Sporting Director, who sits on the board. We have a plan as to the type of players that we want to recruit, a coach who has final say on prospective signings and a recruitment team that has the contacts and knowledge of Fabio Paratici.

It's...(and I have to pinch myself before I say it...just to ensure that I'm not dreaming)...a joined up strategy. A proper plan...using talented, experienced, dedicated, full-time people to enact it.

What a ****ing difference it has made!!! Good business that has been done early leading to holes being filled and a happy coach. Top young players, with options to go elsewhere, choosing us above serious alternatives. Business done in Italy on a regular basis, recruiting their best young internationals.

It seems like a miracle...but it's just good business practice being employed. Let's hope the dark days are over!

There's suggestions in the Romanian press that Vlad Chiriches has been in Dragusin's ear to get this done

All I can say to that is...
