I think I'd be nervous if he was taking them, but I do think he's better at kicking a nice, quiet and well-behaved ball. If he has time to set himself he's pretty accurate (look at some of the goals he's scored) but doesn't seem too good at those that come at him quickly. I think it just takes longer for the message to get to his feet from his brain than most.
I need a referee or someone to tell my why those tackles on players taking a shot aren’t a foul. You pass the ball and get a late tackle after ball gone - it’s a foul and yellow. You have a shot in the box and a late tackle on you after the ball is gone and it’s never given as a foul.
Nobody even seemed to be interested in discussing the possibility of a pen there. Like you say, anywhere else and a late tackle is deemed a caution, for some reason that was ok, even though the player now has to go off.
It’s the commentator afterwards, he’s slid in maybe made a little bit of contact but it’s not a foul…. deapite fact he put his whole weight of the tackle onto the guys ankle. Anywhere else that’s a yellow card. Just don’t get it
Yeah - I'm glad he cleared that up for us. I imagine VAR would have looked at that if it was in use - but I'm not even sure about that, there are so many instances where there seems to be a different set of rules for inside the box than everywhere else. The upshot of it is that 'Boro have lost one of their best players to a tackle that would be a yellow card anywhere else and I don't see how anyone can think that's justice.
if you look at the pens at the preseason where the games were draws and they just had pens for the Asia fans he hit two absolute lemons and they went under the keeper etc what you want is a player with that milner streak. everything is serious, everything is vital even if its tiddlywinks
one would feel thst that is the most likely outcome given Chelsea dominated possession and squandered loads of good chances. it keeps the tie alive
that should have lost 3-1 probably, at home. the tie is still alive, that's good but they are going away next and it's going to be tough. I don't think it will be any draw will do. 0-0 is the most likely draw, maybe 1-1 a 1 goal loss gets them pens. it's a good position for boro but a billion pound squad should be winning 4 or 5 at home.
Just a bit of bantz HOWEVER - Boro actually squandered a fair amount of chances themselves - if that Coburn wasn't slower than my Nan he'd be very handy
With the kind of chances boro gave away last night, it's a lot to ask for Chelsea to miss those kind of chances again.
Chelsea are going to be under pressure to win on their own ground, this can be to Middlesbrough advantage.
they are hilariously bad in front of goal aren't they? what a waste of a billion. do you guys remember lazio or someone in Italy dumping 100mil in a big splash way back and getting it badly wrong so they vanished for a very long time as any sort of club. cheslea have dumped a billion on some extremely bad buys and hopes rather than shrewd player selections. here's hoping they sink even more. do a Leeds.
chrslea owners have "bought" 1000 shares of their own asset in a repeat of the fiddling that ambramovich used to get away with. 140million cash injection to prop up the club. the real story of their lack of Europe and sponsors starts to emerge. if they splash cash this winter again there is no way they are meeting any ffp numbers. if prem clubs bail them out by buying gallagher and whoever else they decide to cast off (broja, colwill) them more fool those clubs
