Weird selections, no balance, Casiedo left to do all the defending by "new" midfield, tactics, Sterling up to his old disappearing tricks, and another loss. That's the Life of Poch as we know it. Broja was much better last game, scores an excellent goal, his confidence up and he gets dropped. Madueke breaks into team scores 2 games in a row, he gets a start. Palmer scores goal of his career, gets bollocked, for his "attitude", but gets a turn as striker, his 'new role', and fails completely. Pochs' new roles and "different way of playing" look remarkably like his old way. Key players out of position, zero penetration in final third. And just an observation, Thiago Silva makes another crucial slip, not fatal, but happening increasingly. Age is starting to really show now .Back 4 simply cannot start any attack due to lack of creativity. Colwill being destroyed out of position. Poch said (yet again ) "we were not clinical enough, we create chances but are not clinical enough." We've been that way for 2 years, that's why you were brought in you muppet. So get Boehly and his Clowns to buy 2 strikers who are bloody clinical !!!!!!!! Please Poch, play people in their correct positions, stop trying to turn them into something they can never be. It simply can't be worse than what is happening now. Wonder where we'd be if Tuchel was still manager??
Not sitting in 10th i'd bet. Poch is really getting on my last nerve. Too many square pegs in round holes for me. Gonna give him till the end of this season, but if we dont finish in the top 6 and/or win at least one pot, he has to go. Like you said, his selections are looking more and more bizarre, yeah he has some injuries, but he also has the largest squad of any premier league club, which cost over a billion quid. Agree about Silva too, this needs to be his last season. With any luck he'll retire and become a defensive coach for us
Poch seems to believe things will turn around when (and if) all his players are fit. He could be right of course, without James ,Chilwell and Cucurella, only Gusto makes runs and supports his front wide man. That's why Colwills' side is the one always attacked, the kid is a CD for Christs sake, and our only CD with a real eye for attack. All year Poch has had Maartsen and left him floundering. So our back 4 is constantly static. We defend OK but then slow things to a crawl with sideways play. We have 2 strikers, Broja and Jackson, if fit and available one should always play. No matter how poor they are, they're better than using "false " 9s, that's failed all season and all last season. Agree Poch has to see out the season, (and possibly make me eat my words ) IF he does get things going with fit players. If not, the taxi fare should be in the post.
Yep, still getting a lot wrong. Can’t understand why he’s loaned out a player who’s actually a left back and insists on playing a centre back there. Fernandez has got worse, Caicedo has got worse, Disasi must get picked because he’s tall, no other reason. Very slight improvement on Mudryk and Gallagher has become a better player but I feel like he should be doing better with the current players. In addition to that we look like a bunch of strangers everytime we take to the pitch with no patterns or style whatsoever.
Another game ,a close win but the same old problems. None of our central midfielders seem able to score. Collectively, we just don't run off the ball into intelligent spaces, we constantly get one man isolated, hugging the sideline with 2 defenders all over him. No one seems able nor wants to run straight through the middle, everything is down the sides with too little cohesive play from back to front, just the same predictable wide attacks easily stopped. Good as he is at foreseeing danger, Silva is like a handbrake slowing things down to a walk. Often it's because no one is making themselves available for a pass from him, and we desperately need far more pace from the back. This was another hard to watch disjointed game from our side. Plenty of effort from most ,but Caceido and Broja were particularly poor. We did see Chilwell briefly which is great. Let's hope Poch gets some teamwork happening soon. 3 points gained, so well done for that.
