Apparently Salah missed another penalty playing for Egypt. I really think we should have someone else picked out to take ours. I care less about having the golden boot winner than I do having a team that gets the most points possible.

That’s all well and good but how does removing that responsibility effect his confidence
As a striker who we look to when we are in need having flattened his confidence seems counter productive. generally his PK have been fine

maybe one of the management team can work out what the issue is - Kane has missed plenty but still takes them successfully

I think we should give him a chance

you guys are always pointing out to me when I am being negative about say a draw at Bournemouth that the league is not lost on that one game as an example - surely the points are not lost on Salah or anyone missing one penalty.

if we are good enough and need it - we create another chance and take it ?

Salah changed his penalty style going from a curved run up to almost no run up and it's since then he's missed more.

I think it's down to bad tech questions and decisions.

he can put it in a corner if it suits.

he can also.miss horrendously like he did v Bournemouth trying to be too smart and top binning it.

Gerrard was ****e at pens once. People forget that by the end of his career he wasn't smashing them he was calmly placing them.

any time you simply leather the ball you introduce an element of luck as you are removing some control. a keeper can go the right way and it hits a leg. he can stand up and its at him.

the other day salah said he got put off by the coach of Newcastle telling the keeper stuff. thats bad. you should know if your pen is good no keeper is getting it.

I'm if salah simply picks a side and hits it well then most of the time they can't be stopped.

if he decides to skip and hop and wait for a keeper to go down then hit it the other way then most of the time this works.

salah chooses to blast them so people are wise to it. they can dive according the percentages as he simply can't really adjust very much as he's run up commits himself.

pen takers are cool, they have a clear decision taken and they are executing.

the one thing about all this is a keeper can take a risk in a game to stand up or whatever but in a pen shoot out they have to do something so the guys theat stride up and smash them most often prevail as the keeper dives under pressure.

I mean it's a long time since the cl final v spurs but I actually expected him to miss that and its not ever got much better has it.

Kanes PL record was 33/37 which looks pretty good to me compared to Mo 24/30

Yes but there was a period where people claiming he shouldn’t be on them

    As I said
Bit of practice and some correct coaching and I think Mo is the man

I think someone like Trent might be a better option. Haven't had too many chances to see him take penalties, according to stats he's only taken four all on international duty (and scored all four) but I think he's better at placing a ball in a specific spot than Salah. I suspect he might get us more goals (and points).

like, 26 out of 30 isn't too bad. 86.67% conversion.

I found a sharticle that comments that the best persons on the planet is mr fernandes down the road with 48 out of 53. our 90%

    a) he wants them

    b) he practices them

    c) he can do better if he takes a couple steps. (stop taking in noise into the decision making process, fix his run up)

If salah is replaced on pens then Szoboszlai would be my prime candidate.

Scored 16, missed 1. He has a better ratio than Salah. After 17 taken, that's enough to be a significant ratio too.

anything about 8 or 12 pens to become significant enough to make a judgement call from. its an empirical judgement rather than truly statistically significant but as I usually say you can look and tell when viewing a player much better than relying on statistics etc. you can tell very quick about a player

Nunez has a perfect 12 from 12 one of which i'm sure was for us and he just quietly rolled it into the corner calm as you like .

he looked woeful in preseason and then did score one in europa that was much better.

I just wouldn't trust him a huge amount in terms of focus like elder statement like gerrard and milner etc.

Gerrard as i said wasn't always that elder statesman either and missed a few

Tbf you could say the same about Balotelli - and as rubbish as he was at everything else, he was a great penalty taker.

Not sure if fully trust Nunez while he’s hit and miss. Knowing him he’d miss the pen then bang one in from 40 yards 5 mins later though.

I never liked a big run up when I took them (very different levels, I know), I preferred to take two or three steps and place it; have the keeper less time to assess and me more precision in exhibition - always aimed for and hit the side netting, never missed one.
