He led an operation on a 46-year-old woman with liver cancer at Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge in May 1968. The procedure faced opposition from others in the medical profession at the time. Sir Roy's efforts paved the way for life-saving surgery that has since saved the lives of many in Britain and beyond.
Was just going to post that. Well worth remembrance, he saved the lives of so many that would otherwise have had their lives cut short.
