Probably just paper talk but i think it would be a good thing if it did happen He is good enough for this level and he is still young. His desire to play for Saints is well known making him perfect cover on the bench initially, he should be match fit (something that Barny and Conners aren't atm) I can think of a lot worse and the players who are better than him may not come unless first team football is guaranteed and lets be fair it would take a VERY special player to walk into this team as it stands
Press a bit slow on the uptake, we had already discussed the possibilty on this site after our game at Coventry, opinions were divided then and no different now, we all know that this kind of speculation often ends without a result, NC will not be conned by anyone.
The press starting transfer stories = It will never happen. No rumours and letting NA & NC get on with it = It will happen.
The echo print **** to sell papers, just as every other paper do's. It's just the echo is one of the worse so called papers.
Connoly is out injured, and Sir Nigel is nursing Barnard gently back from injury. Its true that Rickie and Guly are on fire, but any injury to one of them could leave us a bit weak up front. I know we have strength in other areas where goals can be scored, but why risk not having a strong enough strike force when we have done so well so far, and want to kick on and consolidate in the automatic places? I think a loan striker would be a sound bit of business. This lad is only 22, and quite well regarded, strong and good on the ball. He did score against us, so is clearly better than many we have come up against so far this season!
http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/fb_news.php?storyid=14879 this is a good article comparing maynard, jay rod and lucas jutnvkdsljglo. I am inclined to go with lucas, young, local lad, supports the club, and caused fonte some trouble when we played them.
I think it is more likely that we are linked to this proven young goalscorer due to his footballing ability. Unless the media know more about Jay Rod and Maynard's sporting allegiances than I do, and they in fact are closet saints also...
I really do hope we sign him, who he supports is irrelevant. WE DO NOT have anybody to replace Lambert with similar attributes, those attributes being aerial presence, strength to name just a few, basically Jutkiewicz is in the same mould, an old fashioned CF. Not saying Jutkiewicz is as good as Rickie, he's not but I don't think we're going to sign a player who is equal or better than Lambert. Jutkiewizcz is young with obvious potential who I think could be developed, would work hard and wait to grab his opportunity. We don't want some big Charlie expecting to walk into the 1st team and upsetting the apple cart, we'll get plenty of practice dealing with that sort of player when we're trying to establish our Premiership Status.
Oh god we haven't got 2 Lallana's, lets sign Messi ASAP. We only have one player like Chaplow, GET ANOTHER! Why have we only got one Guly, sort it out we need at least one more. As for Schneiderlin well we need to sign Busquets and Xavi incase he gets injured. Connolly is injury prone, get another striker in. ADKINS OUT!
Guly is more capable of filling in for Lambert than Jutkiewicz, who is an average Championship striker.
I agree entirely with this and am pretty surprised by the ridiculously sardonic responses you;ve received. He is an aerial presence and far stronger than Guly who will never be a target man (despite his size). Would be fantastic back up, but then Jay Rod has some presence too...
Andy Thorn (Coventry manager) seemed resigned to losing Lukas after tonight's game. He said any decision made by the board was "out of his hands" and that it would be a shame to start over again.
Can't really judge lukas hardly seen him play. If Adkins signs him tho Im sure he won't be wrong and he'll prove to be a good player.
on the bus: You always seem to post negative comments or come accross as argumentative in you posts, The point is that we currently dont have any strikers in the same mould as Lambert who can get regular goals for the team Based on the fact Lambert has got 14 goals and 6 assists this season surgests that if Lambert was injuired we would struggle to play in the same effective system. whistle I think if Adams not in the team we can move thing around alot easier without having to change the system.
