I’d be against Arabs buying the club but not against bringing a player to the club once they’ve severed ties with them.
This is where it would be a PR nightmare. Fans would be split and I don’t think the club would risk that. Will be interesting to see what Henderson says about the Saudi move.
I just hope the club is awake to the strength of feeling some (most?) of our fans have about such things. We did have an absolutely tone deaf friendly against a Saudi team, still can't believe we did that.
Why are people discussing whether or not they'd have him back as if it's a realistic option? The bloke's on £700k per WEEK. If he returns to England, it will be in the Prem. Anyway, I reckon bringing in Mbappe could be good for Mayenda's development. Anyone else reckon he's worth a punt?
Get Lautaro Martinez as well to show him how to mix up his runs and we may as well grab Benzema to show him how to play back to goal. Sound. Jokes aside Hendo would be immense here both as a player and an influence. There’ll be PL takers regardless. I don’t buy the fans wouldn’t accept him. I, like everyone was sad with his decision to go but he’s one of ours and the lad got offered generational wealth for his entire bloodline.
Just discussing it as a hypothetical in my case at least. Although at 33, been playing at a **** standard and wages being an issue to say the least I'm not sure how many sides will be chomping at the bit to sign him.
Christ I hope not Let’s hope KLD comes out and says we aren’t, never have been and never will be in for the Saudi arse licking twat.
Bless him, turns out its hot and humid and football isn't that big out there! Who would have known. The fact he went there for £700k a week proves there is no chance he would take a pay cut to come here, if asked by a journalist he would say something along the lines of I would love to return to Sunderland but I owe it to myself to play at the top level possible so premier league offers are the most tempting blah ****ing blah. Which would of course be bullshit as he went there for £700k a week, sorry that's wrong it was to help develop football out there wasn't it!
He needs to pay £million to leave. 700k since July 1st he gonna still come out some £12 million or su in the profit.
Having thought about it, he'd have to take a ludicrous pay cut, and the media frenzy would require a level of PR skill and awareness we've overwhelmingly proved we don't have. Non starter.
The lads earned plenty in the past few months. Taking a wage cut will mean nothing. If it wasn't for fans backlash it could be easily dooable.
If were ruling out Mvilla as he hasnt played since end of last season after playing a high number games last season....then Henderson also hasnt played since end of last season...he might as well have been playing football in the park Kert has no morals.....he doesn't fit what were trying to build, yes we need older head in there & pre selling his sole he would have been perfect....not welcome back in my eyes
If we take a step back from the moral high ground Jordan is the ****ing dream signing. We are screaming out for that player. Experience, know how, leadership. He has captained England and a team to a PL title and champions league. This is his club and he has always been stout and proud with that. We’d get over it quickly. Im all for it if we can make it work and I don’t buy for a second we’d get negative press from signing an England international back to his boyhood club. its Roy of the ****ing Rovers ****
