In fairness to Johnson I still do truly believe he’s gonna become a demon for us but it can’t be denied he’s been very, very poor in most of his performances so far. The other two, no words. Can only hope Werner finds his pre-Chelsea form. Still hoping the Saudi’s save us from pigeon boy though.
Werner could be an astute signing for Ange`s system, it`s low risk, he either flops, we send him back and reassess, or he does well and we take up the (rumoured) option to sign him permanently. Perisic won`t play for Spurs again, so Werner would take his squad place, hopefully Ange is fully on board and can see what a confident Werner played in the right system would bring to the squad.
And Fab has now come along with a here we go for the deal. Confirms it’s an option to buy and not obligation, which is good. Speaking of good, you better be, Werner.
If this ever happens, Trebs and Diego gonna need to take a hiatus from the forum because I’m gonna rip them a new one.
Won't Diego say : - 6th best L(W)B in the PL - whole team has to be shaped around the player etc etc.
What the actual ****? He was dogshit at Chelsea. If Ange turns him into something half decent, we really do have a special manager. Seems like a panic loan as cover, simply to boost options, which I can understand to an extent. I’ll eat my hat if he performs for us and we end up signing him permanently. More likely he’ll play as much as Danjuma did and be sent back in 6 months.
TBH a large part of him being dogshit at Chelsea was because of Lampard playing FIFA IRL, where he just bought young players who were fast and expected that to be enough Since returning to Monster Energy Dusseldorf he's been good for 1 in 3 in the Bundesliga, and that's with him usually making cameos from the bench - which while a step behind his pre-Chav form (the seasons he was 1 in 2 were his worst, if you can believe that) he's still an instinctive scorer, plus he has pace, pressing intensity and workrate to be a handful That being said...
The move for Werner makes a lot of sense. As PNP has said, there is a real dearth of (affordable) quality attackers out there, and we cannot afford to be blowing most if not all of our budget on one when Son will be back in 5 weeks. There is no question that we need to bolster our options up top permanently, but that is a job for the summer, not January. Right now the absolute priority is CB and CM (if as expected we let Hojbjerg go). Those two investments could cost us north of £60m combined. I can't see us spending another £30-40m on top of that for a striker. We could opt for a young unknown talent but we did that in the summer with Veliz and the risks are obvious - especially as the youngster in question won't have a pre season with Ange. That said, we need someone who knows the PL, is experienced and can hit the ground running, without breaking the bank. Werner ticks all of those boxes and as others have said, even if he spends most of his loan on the bench, I'd far sooner see him come off it to run at the opposition than Gil. Not even a question. This is a very sensible move for all involved and I have faith that Ange will help unlock his confidence. If he can and we land the pre-Chelsea vintage of Werner for £17m in the summer, it will be an absolute coup. I get the apprehension, but it's a smart move imo.
Who did themselves justice as footballers at Chelsea during, before and after Werner’s time there? I can’t think of a single player kind of talent I think Ange can work with imo
The Daily Wail claim that Luton are looking to make a move for Japhet Tanganga At least let us recall him first!
Chelsea has been a graveyard for strikers since as far back as I can remember. Even world renowned players like Crespo and Shevchenko flopped there. I assume this was the 'quid pro quo' clause in the pact Abramovich made with the devil.
Basically a talking head who has very little knowledge of our club and players , talking absolute bollocks for clicks
