I feel sorry for the lad. He makes some fantastic runs off the shoulders of defenders and it’s begging for a ball to just be played in behind. We never do it though. We’re very one-dimensional when we have the ability to be so much more.

Totally. I think his movement is great. We do need to do better to make use of him properly.

I sit in the East Stand North on the 18 yard line so probably about 25 yards from them. I thought they were awful and out sung just about the entire game. They were loud when they scored because we were quiet but as soon as we got behind the team they were drowned out.
It's strange because I tend to hear away fans quite loudly in normal games.

He makes fantastic runs. We need to be much braver, but I think it’s down to the instructions. Dan Neil has the quality to make those passes, but he never attempts them. We need to make more use of the quality we have at our disposal. Trust the quality. Newcastle are a better side than us, no doubt about it, but we need to be braver.

I leave twenty minutes before kick off because that’s the time of the last bus back to the lakes, there’s usually about another 65 with me although John stays as he thumbs a lift back,
    That’s 66 to 1

I’ll also add that I agree with Beale post match. This just shows how far these lads have to go. That’s not necessarily a bad thing - it’s the process. It hurts more today because of who’s beaten us, but we need to be better. Tbh - this derby defeat felt like a defeat of any other premier league side. The derby is no more, they’ve sold their souls and us lot are better than that. We just need to get it right at our end.

Totally agree with you on that. Even if we were doing that though, I'm not sure he was the player for us to go long to today to beat their press.

It’s a shame Ekwah’s shot didn’t go in. Would have made it spicy. It just needed a tiny bit more on the deflection.

He isn’t mate. I think that’s our major shortcoming. There’s no excuses by now for not having a player in our ranks to facilitate that kind of play. We need a striker this window, no more excuses.

Well after having a think about today, yes I'm pissed off that we got beat off those twats, my voice is croaking cos of singing at the top of my voice but I was proud watching my grandson totally enjoying before the game - the chanting, the atmosphere, he even dragged me from the south stand to the north so he could try and see the mags coming in - I even had to stop him pushing to the front! He creased up listening to the anti mag songs, especially the Shearer is a ****er one! But what made me really proud was how he stood on his seat in the concourse ( cos he couldn't see cos everyone that was standing up) and belted out Sunderland till I die with his arms outstretched. He even started to critique what the team was doing wrong and what they needed to do to put it right! <laugh>

Good to see you posting again mate. Might be wrong but seems you were away for a few weeks. Anyway, agree. Rusyn is a real grafter and technically good. He will be an important player. At times though he got smashed and cant stand up to it. Ref was decent though in that respect. I wouldnt be using him as a back to goal striker, that takes brute strength, get him turned and running at them and we will see him shine.

Thank goodness, you are the first one I have seen mention that shot that their keeper saved with his big toe. Even the people I sit with couldn't remember it and thought I was talking about Pritchard's shot when I said that it was a different game if that went in. Even Beale didn't mentioned it, I thought I was going nuts and imagined it :emoticon-0102-bigsm

For balance, I think everyone should have stayed until the bitter end today - as I did. Just my opinion, of course, but this was more than just a game today.
