Hume was ass. Against any pacey winger he is ass. That's why he was asked to go inside to use his football brain under Mowbray. As a fullback one one one. Easy meat.

Beale's interview there was horrendous, really hard to listen to. It shouldn't matter, ultimately it doesn't, results matter, but, as the spokesperson for the team if you can talk a little bit it will buy you some time when things aren't going well. He's not going to talk himself into any extra time, ever, so....results then! Good luck, Mick, crack on!

Let’s hope they learn from this debacle… if not.. I fear for our season…this was a dream come true for Newcastle… we didn’t cause then any problems and our so called stars need to re-evaluate how good they are

This game reminded me of how awful it was in the Premier League and how we would be getting battered every game.
I enjoy the Championship games far more.
We are miles away from competing in the Prem and if we went up through the playoffs we could look forward to this kind of game all season. No thank you.

When some of our young’uns do improve and we actually get a few more better players, then we can think of going up but at the moment we are nowhere near ready.
    Maybe next season.

As Southern A has pointed out, we can expect to be holding on to the likes of Clarke because no Premier Club scouts would have seen anything worth coming for. We have no Premier League quality players at this moment. Some may be in a year or two but none of our players would get into that Saudi team.

I’ve defended Beale since he took over but today he’s made a rod for his own back Bellingham should have been off after 20 mins dead on his feet and as someone has said earlier there was no one to make a difference then we are in a very bad place

So you would have done what ? moved Rusyn right and lose a 9?
Dropped Jobe for Burstow and had one less in centre mid?
Tell us what you would have done with the players available?

Difficult one today, outmuscled and we’ve not come up again that level of athleticism before. Young team who’s heads dropped but I did expect a bit more fight considering the occasion. Ekwah has been threatening to do that for ages. Jobe needs dropping, he’s not up to much at the moment and I don’t think he or the staff know where his best position is. Pritchard the bright spark and I thought Rusyn competed well again 3 monsters at the back. Clarke and Hume both given lessons today.

As I said yesterday I thought it was just a nuisance match ...

... I thought such a young team might freeze but that was sub-arctic.

On to the Ipswich game now and a load of rum when I'm home <laugh>

Waddle on the post match analysis regarding us:

They’ll have to learn. They are in the play offs and they have to stay there. We saw the atmosphere, the fan base they’ve got and everything.

They need to invest in a couple of players, let’s be perfectly honest. They need a couple of experienced players more than anything. They definitely need a centre forward, no doubt about that, which is a hard position to fill.

Listen, if they are going to go up it’s through the play offs. There is no reason they can’t. I mean, they’ve got a lesson today. Newcastle were far better, but for the championship, Sunderland will have a chance of getting in / up via the play offs if they invest.

Pougatch replies: Big if (then wraps up the program)

    3-5-2 with Seelt in.

Will let you work out the formation yourself.

Learning experience for the lad, especially in terms of decision making. He's only 21 got a lot of time to learn and improve.
