Patterson is awful with the ball at his feet. We need to stop persisting with that or we're setting ourselves up to fail like we did today. He's fine otherwise and might develop into a solid enough Premier League keeper in time, but he's not a modern ball playing keeper and we need to stop trying to force it.

 

Ba didn't get the memo about jogging or ****ting it everytime they go near him. Apart from Ballard, Pritch and 09 they all were no where near. I can't decide if they froze or they are no where near in level anyway, probably a bit of both.

Ballard scored an og and gave away a blatant penalty but when you are exposed as much as they were at the back these things happen.

Not sure why we kept trying to play it out from the back when it was obvious they were too fast and our players were getting caught time and again!

 

Agree that we should have made more subs, may as well have gone for it especially after going 2 down. No point being conservative in that situation.

Would have loved to see Rigg get a crack at it. It's not like Jobe was playing too well to be taken off he had a bad game.

 

You always dig at managers but I looked at the bench and thought no player had it in them to win it for us being honest. It needed pace or physicality. Tell me if you think differently from the options we had.

 

Clarke and Hume is scary how far off they were.

did Bellingham play ? did not notice, that was ****e i know they are a premier team but other Sunderland teams have had a go but we need big money spent if we go up that is a warning 0-4 the boro and now 0-3 them we are miles behind last season Beale better get out and sign a striker 5 days all ready and no sign. tippy tappy at the back at least it was not a league game so does not count and we won the biggest ever in 1990.

 

Wouldn't have played Prichard against Dan Burn. Can not be anymore clear than that

 

It will be Beales fault every time we lose for some. Honestly not sure what subs he could have made that would have significantly changed.

Pritchard was our best player.

 

Hume was made to look very very poor. Was no where near today, done for pace over and over. That slide when he had been beating for their first goal was terrible was no where near so stay on your feet and at least try and get back/occupy the attacker. Instead he hit the ground and left him a free run!

Had Roberts been fit we’d have had some joy from Burn- Ba highlighted that - it did strike me that Rusyn right and Pritchard centre might have done it more but ultimately our lack of a quality at 9 and lack of real competitive options at centre mid and wide were shown up. 2 years from now we may be closer but I’d rather we did it our way than through blood money
