This would be my preference, alongside maybe a challenge or two per half if we do want to ensure some pens or red cards that are potentially got wrong can be reviewed. But this nature of trying to solve everything isn’t working.
that's why when it's not subjective the VAR just tell what the decision is - ie offside when no judgment on interferring required when it is subjective VAR asks the referee to review
I’ve said that from the start, I don’t know how many in the hut, and the ref linos, 4th official, and the managers every one could have a different opinion, and for me that’s what makes VAR deeply flawed
that is exactly what it is used for if it's an opinion the referee is asked to review - he has the advantage of different angles and speeds
No it isn't exactly what it's used for. It has decisions reviewed based on a number of people's decisions/opinions and that's wrong because all those people can have different ones. Stick to black & white, yes or no. Anything else just crack on with the onfield decision and as olm said earlier. 30/45 second time limit. If it takes longer then that then it isn't clear and obvious. While I'm on it, offside should also be changed imo so you're only offside if you're feet are offside. Any other part of the body then just carry on
It is NEVER based on a number of people's decisions if it is black and white the decision is obvious if it is subjective then the referee reviews I dont see why you should limit offsides to feet why should your knee, torso or head be exempt from offside?
I’d use the same criteria they use for the ball & make it that the whole body needs to be in an offside position in order for a player to be offside. Whole ball over the line. Whole body over Sky’s offside line. VAR should be binned. It’s only purpose is to increase the enjoyment of armchair fans to the detriment of the enjoyment of supporters in the stadium & we all know “if you’re watching on the telly you’re a ****” FACT.
I remember when they brought in names on player's shirts a lot of people said it was spoiling the game! I bet it was the same with numbers!
Because it's getting to the point where players can't even tell in real time if there offside or not due to the fact their shoulder is a cat's cock hairs length Infront of someone else..... At the very bare minimum it should be ( in my opinion ) if it can't be decided in 30seconds by the naked eye then you're onside. The 3/4min delays while lines are drawn on and all that other bollox is just spoiling the game for everyone. Even then they don't always get it right
No they haven't fully, but they have never been penalised for being wrong by 1/2cm that gives them no real advantage.... Up until this crap was brought in.
are you suggesting that it should only be relevant if they are a certain amount offside? If so then is 1/2 cm over that still offside? you still have small amounts that matter.
Because your feet are the things that are crucial to movement towards the goal for both attackers and defenders.
so if a player stood still maybe he should be exempt from being offside by some similar strange logic?
No, it's a completely different process. For the appeal, City put their case forward to a 3-man panel at the EFL/FA who examined their evidence against the referee's report. On this occasion the case City put forward was convincing enough to get it overturned.
I think another good reason is, it's just simpler! At that level of minutiae no one is getting a meaningful advantage so just use something arbitrary and simple. Feet only would do that.
Remember first using that chant at Blackpool away on a Friday night. We were all stood near burnsey and Swannie. Swannie giving us daggers as I assume Bernie was apologising to the RH listeners. Halcyon days.
