Pretty terrible performance and game but we are through and that’s all that matters. A bit concerned about the rest of January against harder opposition given the hard work we made of that.
Hopefully we won't play that bad again. With VdV and Romero to come back and hopefully Maddison. Bentancur looking good. We'll be OK.
He beefed up to absurd levels last season I've seen it suggested that Ange won't be using him as a LB but as a LW Might be interesting seeing him & Udogie on the overlap
**** me that was hard work. Seriously hard work. Richarlison ****ing horrendous, when he ain’t scoring tap-ins he’s a liability on that pitch, fat boy Ndombele wasn’t even as bad as him. Johnson is a pussy who lacks decision making, I’ve still got high hopes for him but comfortably the worst signing of the summer so far, needs to seriously improve. Sessegnon was on the pitch ten mins and typically abysmal as well. Skipp, Hojbjerg were just to watch. They cannot play in this system to save their lives. On the plus side, Bentancur looked a cut above everyone on the pitch for about 55 mins before understandably tiring. Porro’s goal was worthy of winning any game, let alone a drab affair. May the footballing gods bless you, mate. We were never scoring otherwise. Nice to see Scarlett and Donley get on, though should’ve been far earlier. Still no minutes for Phillips or Dorrington at CB. With Micky returning they’ve got absolute no chance of playing for us this season, need loans. If we play like this against Utd.
This month : don't bet against it. The problem this month is that bad performances will not be punished by being dropped, due to threadbare squad.
I don't know if youre taking the pi$$ but I thought he hardly put a foot wrong. Yes he doesn't look composed and looks like he is going to fall over the ball but he did fine. Lack of quality opposition appreciated. Anyway VDV and Romero to return plus Dragusin to come in so he shouldn't be called upon as centreback again.
I really wasn’t! He gets a load of stick but he was faultless tonight and I wanted to big him up as he gets so much stick
The win in the cup is always the most important thing. Dogged side with a bit of quality under the cold Friday night lights with a lot of players missing? Classic Spurs banana skin territory. We really looked like we lacked fluency tonight. Richy couldn’t make anything stick, Kulu was having one of those off games where the little things were just going wrong for him. Johnson’s decision making wasn’t great especially when he was on the left. And the midfield got a bit agricultural at times too. Makes it hard, all things told, to break down two banks of 4 hardworking players. We made hard work of it but Porro’s goal was outstanding and I thought him and Bentancur were the picks of our players. Rest up now and on to United. Hopefully VdV and a new CB to spice that one up.
To the people of Saudi Arabia, I know you’re reading this, please don’t sign our best player, Richarlison. We’ll be so, so devastated if we lose him. Yours sincerely, An insincere Spurs fan.
Royal and Davies didn't put a foot wrong. Not unusual for Ben but a positive change for the former. Mind you, the opposition were pants - although still could have got a draw! Bentancur is a class act. Udogie likewise. Porro scored a Worldwide, but I wish he'd stop the blind passes and playing for fouls. Deki was poor tonight, as was Johnson after the first 10 minutes. As DH said, he is a prospect, but needs to get stronger and start using his pace. Gil, likewise, is too weak. Worked hard when he came on but doesn't create enough. Skipp and Hojbjerg were consistent - consistently bad. We really must move heaven and earth to move them on this window. I'd say the same about Richy and he was back to his worst tonight, but we really have little option but to continue with him for now. I'm pleased for Sess that he has recovered and also think he may have a future in this system . But I wouldn't put money on it! Scarlett and Donley should have got more minutes. We're in the 4th round, so onwards and upwards.
