You can make a case for signing Kieffer Moore for the Championship but not really when we were in the PL. Bournemouth now choose to play quicker and far more skillful players ahead of him and we'd have done exactly the same. Plus we did finally sign another striker in Rutter who is/was exactly the kind of young talent that we should be signing rather than some over the hill one paced jouneyman. So it's still a no from me personally in case you hadn't guessed.
I mentioned last week that Bright Osayi-Samuel was being looked at and wonder if something is about to happen and why Spence is no longer required. Over a hundred games for QPR as a right winger, sold for big money to Fenerbache where he has played over 80 games as a right wing back and having another good season.
You miss my point with Kieffer Moore. In January 2022 we were in a relegation battle. We had huge injuries, were getting battered every week. Paddy was injured. Bielsa had to resort to Dan James up front. Dan James was shocking up front and we couldn't get out of our half in any game. Posters on here were saying no strikers were available to sign. I put forward Kieffer Moore to help us get up the pitch for a measly £6 million. He is a better forward than Dan James, certainly with his back to goal. In isolation, back in January 2022, Kieffer Moore would have been our best striker available for the remainder of that season due to injuries. As for Kieffer Moore coming in now? Like you say, he's probably not really what we need but if Farke wants him and Paddy to fight for 9 and Piroe and Rutter to fight for 10 then it sounds like an understandable plan.
Happy with him being a disciplinarian - will decide whether he’s the man for the job based on performances on the pitch… whether he can sort out the away day blues etc. The obvious area of concern is being able to break down sides who park the bus…. A creative 10… or Kiefer Moore as a route 1 alternative
It's highly debatable that no other strikers were available that January, but even if that was the case I'm still struggling to see Bielsa instructing Raphinha to hit the big man from the wide areas. However if you're reasoning was that Moore was the last available player on the planet who could do a job until Bamford was fit again then fair enough. It seems though that Orta and Bielsa were more of the opinion that signing a slow imobile stop gap wasn't the way to go and that's how I saw it as well, but hey it's all good debate. This season we don't really need to sign another out and out front man, as we have Paddy, Piroe, Rutter and Joseph who are all fit and play that role. Would Moore add something for the last 10 mins when desperate for a goal then maybe, but then that means a young player like Joseph drops out of the picture and it's probably not the direction we want to take.
Because he's shown repeatedly that he's not going to take any nonsense from overpaid lazy players who think they're the bollocks.
You will hopefully have noticed the extra width against Birmingham that was provided by James and Firpo. In fact without Firpo's wide play we might have struggled to score the goals that won the game. Another noticable difference was the way Bamford was creating more spaces in previously heavily conjested central areas by pushing the opposition back four slightly deeper. Transfering these changes to the away performances will hopefully help yield the right results.
Ben Brereton Diaz gone to the blunts, personally I don't think he's anywhere near being a PL player but we shall see.
Firpo is definitely a back 5 player, where he's not required to get back with as much urgency, because he doesn't but definitely offers something going forward
didn’t see the game jambo but thanks for the heads up. Never felt we lacked width really in any games - just that the width we had didn’t help us in those away games.
started off as a striker I think - always shown promise going forwards. Don’t think it’s outrageous to suggest he’s never looked a natural defender
be an interesting one… could mean we’re losing a winger (exchange for Anthony maybe given it’s the same club?) or could just be that creative am/10 we’ve been missing. Very talented lad but not hit the heights since his return to the game and had very little game time so seems a bit of a punt if it happens.
Kieffer Moore surely not, I hope this rumour is false. Brooks if we’re cashing in on Gnonto fine, I just hope Summerville is staying. Spence looked an arrogant prick, I just hope he doesn’t go to Ipswich and play blindingly well
