The club have asked fans to vote for 5 club heroes and 7 iconic moments from our history to be reflected around St.Marys. Think I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but haven't seen it discussed on here and thought it might be interesting to see who everyone would vote for. Don't think they give you enough poll options on this site which is why I haven't made it into a poll!

And below are all the options the club have given. Who would be your 5 club heroes and what would be your 7 most iconic moments?

My seventh isn’t among those listed, but it should be. Saints promotion to Division One in 1965-66.

Five Héroes

Terry Paine
Alan Ball
Ron Davies
Adam Lallana
Steve Williams

Magic Moments
1. Promotion in.1965-66
2. Promotion in 1977-78
3. Standing in the Dell with 31,000+others v Manchester United 1968
4. FA Cup 1976.
5. The back-to-back promotions 2010-2012
6. JPT win
7. 9-3 v Wolves (1965)

Assume it's because they are both already honoured - Ted Bates with the statue and Lawrie I think maybe has something named after him inside the ground (although I can't remember what and if he hasn't then yeh, very strange to leave him out).

What about the man who has a statue outside the ground and the man who managed our only major trophy win and highest ever league finish?...:emoticon-0145-shake

Yep you and Chilcs make good points about missing items.

I know this will be unpopular but it's ridiculous that they've listed stuff from women's team in the clubs most iconic moments. 95% of people literally couldn't give a ****.

If "win the league" meant the Premier League it might qualify...

That won't be an unpopular opinion at all - I am pretty sure everyone will agree with you. Saints women and Saints men are different clubs. Including them here is more ridiculous than putting a youth cup win or something, it's a completely different club!

Businesses and organisations make these decisions because they think they'll be slated if they don't - rather than because anyone actually agrees with it.

I am hoping everyone selects Markus Liebherr as a club hero. He is the only man on the list which if he wasn't involved in Saints then we would no longer exist!

More should be done to honour him. Either a stand named after him or a statue.

I missed his name tbf. I'll swap him in for Benali (sorry Franny)

I think the wording of it allows for someone like Franny to be a banker personally. Football legend is perhaps more exclusive. Club Hero is Franny all over, couldn't wish for a better or more inspirational person to represent our club imo.

(Copied and pasted from Chilcs but exactly my 7 moments in the same order :) )

One of those times when you make a decision then someone suggests something else and you go ‘Oh yes’

And it depends on when you became a Saints fan….obviously many will go for FA Cup win, but I wasn’t a fan then. Not so important in scheme of things, but I was at Wembley for the JPT….one of the best days of my life

From the list above (Ted and Lawrie would have to be on mine) I would choose..

Heroes (Saints)

MLT
Terry Paine
Mick Channon
Franny Benali
Nigel/ Rickie (couldn't separate them, but loved that whole team)

Iconic Moments (from my own experience)

FA Cup win
Promotion in 1978 + League Cup Final 1979
Signing Kevin Keegan (current European POTY!)
Topping the old First Division for the first time ever 1980
1983/84 season (2nd place and FA Cup Semi-Final)
Great escapes of the '90s (take your pick!)
Double promotion

Anti Heroes (Sinners)

'Arry
Branfoot
Nathan Jones
Wesley Hoedt
Kenwyne Jones
VVD
Lovren
