He waved to us when he got subbed. I thought it was quite funny though as he'd been lambasted throughout.
I always find it funny when the "oh we were **** in the 35 minutes before the red anyways, we would've lost regardless" excuse gets trotted out. It's almost like we haven't won 13pts from losing positions, the third most in the division... and we weren't even losing at the time.
Getting dominated in that fashion by a bottom 3 side when we are trying to be a top 6 side is worrying. You could’ve easily switched the league position and believed it.
I don't think its worrying at all. Was our fourth game in what, 11 days? 12? You're going to get patchy performances with that sort of run of games. By comparison Ipswich had 0-0s with QPR and Stoke, Watford had two draws with Plymouth and Stoke, Sunderland drew with Rotherham, Coventry drew with Swansea, and there's probably others I can pull out. All sides gunning for the top 6 all dropping points to teams they would be comfortably putting away if their legs weren't gone/having to heavily rotate over the busy period. Let's not lose our heads.
We had fresh legs in that side, 3 players coming into the starting 11 fresh. Slater first game in the middle, Maka and Lokilo. They also played that and looked much sharper and up for the occasion. It’s worrying to me adhd because it’s happened too often and we get away with it because of individual quality rather than good team play. I would love to say our team play has got us to where we are but i genuinely don’t believe that. Philogene has got us from bottom half to the top and now we are nothing more then a mid table side form wise. Waiting to be proven wrong would love it to happen but we just need more from certain players. Tufan etc should be dominating without Philogene
Just because it was Slater's first game in the middle doesn't really mean he has fresh legs, and McLoughlin was fine at CB, only taken off for positional shift, but not really in an influential area of the pitch. My opinions on Lokilo are well known by now so don't need repeating. I think the comments about Philogene carrying us are quite overused, and frankly rather insulting to Delap and Connolly who have both played a huge part in getting us some crucial results. Surely you've been proven wrong already given the 3-2 win over Blackburn and 3-0 win over Cardiff showed we can be prolific without Philogene. Even the 3-2 loss against Bristol City was down to issues with our attitude rather than an ability to find goals. Philogene's poor defending against Southampton basically gifted them two goals as just one example where he's not actually our Lord and Saviour as some would have it.
Philogene walks into most other sides in the league when fit. He scores goals and provides them for others. When he gets the ball he does more with it than anyone else, with Delap probably in close second place for that award. Saying we're missing his input or that we've relied on him is only insulting to Delap and Connolly if you want to construe it that way. What's essentially a compliment to Philogene doesn't have to be a dig at the others and I'm sure as soon as he's ready he'll be back in the side. If we have to pat everyone's back though, I will say some of our more recent issues to be fair have been more in the middle and at the back considering we've had no real width up top for a few games. Delap can put a good shift in on the right and Connolly can often grab a goal out of seemingly nowhere.
I didn't say we weren't missing his input or that that was what was insulting to Delap/Connolly, so that's an odd slant to take. I said the notion that Philogene took us from bottom half to top and that we'd be mid-table without him is insulting to Delap and Connolly. We were 6th when Philogene debuted for us so not really sure how the comment makes even a modicum of sense (as a side note we've lost more games with Philogene in the side than out of it..). Yes Philogene has been fantastic for us, yes we're missing his output - it'd be stupid to claim we're not missing him, which is why no one (as far as I know) has said it. To say though that he was carrying us or that we're a **** team without him is ridiculous, and strangely enough, saying we're mid-table or worse without him is actually an insult to the remaining players whether you see it that way or not.
Besides Cantona, they're not very good actors at all. I can't see Morton being up for an Olivier when his career ends.
So the other half was thinking it was a red, oh I forgot you’re never wrong are you? Making **** up again I see. Yes of course it was never a red after seeing multiple slow motions, in real time it looked a high challenge.
No the other half were there and never thought it was a red but didn’t get their phones out and post in here because we were too busy telling the ref he’s a ****er.
