what I would say re the tackle is that it was the only time all match that I saw a city player go back at a very strong and physical Wednesday team.
Can't disagree with that at all. I do still think it was reckless but to clarify to those thinking I'm being a bit harsh on Morton,I'm not,I don't think the lad has a bad bone in his body
Agreed. It was the sort of challenge that Ashbee would put in when we were getting outplayed which we certainly where.
So Tyler wins his appeal against the red card. Does this mean the ref might be doing Scunny at the weekend? Doubt it.
Maybe windass and the player who rolled around get done for bringing the game into disrepute? that would send a message
At first look, at normal speed it was a red, only replays show different, anyone who didn’t think it was a red before replays and slow motion, I think might be kidding themselves.
Morton knew full well it wasn’t a red if you watch what he says in his reaction, he clearly says he got the ball, and he certainly did.
I was surprised it was given as a foul on first viewing as he clearly won the ball and it wasn't at all dangerous. I still haven't changed my mind. At the time the red was shown I hadn't seen a replay and I was furious.
Both feet got the ball - one after the other But from the referee's view Morton did seem to come in very dangerously - the referee couldnt see the actual contact because a player was blocking his view When I was 11 I was asked to referee a Sunday match because the referee hadnt turned up The players were very considerate There was only one problem - an attacker went for the ball as well as the goalkeeper. The ball flew over the deadball line. I didnt have a clue who last touched the ball but everybody expected me to make a decision and I said "corner" - which seemed the most likely. Only one guy objected. The rest of the players told him to shut up.
I understand this, and I praised Tufan for similar against Blackburn, but when the red is overturned some charges of simulation should be available and many years ago the leagues claimed they were implementing. Think only two players have been banned or something like that.
Not on that occasion, he looked genuinely devastated that he’d been done, and let’s face it their players, Windass especially, did him.
To be equally fair to our players I’ve never seen any of them go off on one like Windass did. I’d like to say good luck to him, that it almost certainly got his team three points, but I can’t, because I think he’s a total ****. Sorry.
