cant agree define what will bring success? Your point was about money. Everyone knows Kent was $hite for us, and we all know he was just a tool used by Ashton to try and curry favour with the big boys. Plenty of Championship clubs have loaned players from the PL over the last few seasons without breaking the bank. We have to be financially prudent of course, but we can’t allow previous mistakes to impede our future either. A nice step down ! HNY

If we believe what we’ve been told for the last 3 years, the future looks very bright. Sadly it’s the here and now that’s been the issue over that same period….
I agree, our transfer strategy over the last few years bothers me greatly. We have focussed almost exclusively on younger players from lower leagues, in the hope we bring them through to sell on. I’ve said many, many times on here that this policy will only work to supplement bringing in older, higher level experienced players as well, which we haven’t really done. People will bang on about no money, but it’s irrelevant if the policy remains as it is.
Our senior players are pretty much all coming up for contract renewal and most aren’t worthy of being extended. It’ll be interesting to see how this is dealt with, because as you rightly say, its all well and good buying youngsters to bring through, but we need experienced pro’s as well.
Money isn't important unless you don't have any, 'Pay peanuts and you employ Monkies' is the old adage, lose control and you end up with £38.4m debt and FFP threats, we don't want to return to the wilderness or money madness years. Jon Lansdown has created and supported our current position and conditions, him, Tinman and the suits need to act with speed, invest the promised funds in a team rebuild, fullfil their promises and allow LM to do his job.
If any club wants to sign good players then they have to offer a decent supporting cast to entice them to join, and that's where we fall flat on our face. We have never been able to rebuild a team of any note because who would want to come and play for a club proven to be under performers on a consistent basis? The Lansdowns have built their empire based on several sports franchises and have conveniently forgotten the mainstay that got them here, and that is Bristol City Football Club. The investments in things non-football must have taken their eyes off the ball because after so many promises being broken, or conveniently ignored, the paying public are beginning to lose faith in any news coming from the boardroom of our club. Although a lot of money has been spent on upgrades by Lansdown I'm afraid to say his money has done nothing for the on-field product and therefore the life blood (supporters) of the club is starting to run dry up. I expect nothing else but apathy in this transfer window as all we may sign will be lower league players and future potential that rarely materializes. The biggest ever bust for me was HNM but perhaps he is available again on the cheap.
I wish the young lad all the best in his move here but to be honest it's a typical City signing and another that doesn't set my heart pounding. We shall wait and see whether or not he can eventually, or even sooner, make the first team squad but we won't know until he has been here a little while longer and impressed the coaches about his hunger and desire to step up to the task. P.S. We desperately need a tall striker, prolific goal scorer and a good back-up in goal - please!
Bournemouth are open to letting Kieffer Moore leave this month, alerting a host of Championship clubs. Cardiff very keen, tentative interest from Boro though their priority is a defender. Moore most likely a loan.
We have lost out to Boro for Finn Azaz, allegedly. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-transfer-target-middlesbrough-9011190
