The feeling down south is that Brooks, Moore and Mepham need game time so loans may be possible for Brooks and Mepham. However they want cash for Moore to fund another striker purchase. Now Brooks could be a good loaner if we were satisfied with his fitness levels. I don't think he has played a full game for Bournemouth since he returned.
Yes, unfortunately. I can't see why Leeds would need him but Scummers more likely. Fairly local for him as well.
So, here we are, day 3 and still no news. Bulut's signing on the 1st never materialised and he needs to get a wriggle on if he wants 2 by the end of the week.
Yep, saw that earlier on... some of it is bound to be waffle but if Leeds or Ipswich are genuinely interested then we could be scuppered - Leeds for the money they'll probably be able to offer (and of course because they are such a HUGE club that take millions to each away game etc) and Ipswich because he knows the club and may feel like he has unfinished business there combined with perfect timing given that they'll pretty much be nailed on for a play-off spot as a minimum the way things are going... Still, of what Erol says is true then we aren't putting all our eggs into this one basket and will be speaking to others... just need t hope that the pull of the Bluebird shirt an fond memories is enough to convince him to come.
Think if Ivanhoe had bumped into BFB at that expensive gym, they could have wobbled each others head, and clinched the deal there and then….or not! Personally as much as Masky would like to see him return, I think pastures new would be a better move for him! Masky
Leeds aren’t short of goals as we may well witness later this month but Ipswich have had 2 blanks in a row. Maybe Ramsey will have a word in his shell
Bakasetas has 6 months left on his contract and the club want £1.3 million, the player looking for £33,000 a week. If we can`t afford that we may as well still have an embargo.
Personally, with all the money us fans pay into the club, I don't think we should be looking at anyone valued at less than £5 million by their clubs and on less than £50k per week. That's the only way we'll ensure good players arrive obviously.
Just read the interview with Karydas (Erol is ill). Lots of words spoken, nothing actually said. He should be a politician, he never answered a question.
Just seeing what it's like to be taking a break from reality.... it is quite liberating actually, I can see why it's so appealing, I felt so much more empowered and in control...
Don't let Mrs brizzle read that you feel empowered and in control. You have to let them feel like they are in control.
Looking at the 2 main transfer targets so far mentioned, Moore and Bekasetas, Moore is 32 this year and Bekasetas 31. Making straight transfers for these 2 is a big risk in view of their ages. They would be looking for 2 or even 3 year contracts. While age need not necessarily be an issue, look at Milner for instance, it could well be, especially for a striker who gets lumps kicked off him every week. Even the Turkish guy, Ucan, who WoL say we are looking at, is 30 tomorrow. A straight transfer is a risky investment at those ages. We have been here before with ageing players on big wages where we are dependent on promotion to carry on funding them. Or avoiding relegation as in our previous 2 Prem appearances. I guess the usual suspects on here will say Tan can afford it and go for it. I think Vincent, having been burnt twice, is now more circumspect on how and when he spends his money. There are also FFP considerations which cannot be ignored. For these 2, in particular, loans would be better options if available. We may have to stump up a loan fee but could get their current clubs to pay a proportion of their wages. This has worked for us before, e.g. Bellamy. There are restrictions on the number of loanees we can include in match day squads but that is easily resolved by cancelling the loans of Ugbo and Runarsson for instance and sending them back to their home clubs. There must be lots going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. It will all come out in the wash.
I'd be more likely to take the risk on Moore, who knows the league, rather than those 30+ who haven't played in the championship and might not adapt. Its taken its toll on Siopis. Using Milner as an example doesn't stack for me. In the nicest possible way, he's a freak. The exception, not the rule. He was superb the other night though. His versatility and longevity should be an inspiration to young players. Its been said before, but as important as what comes in is what goes out. If we can lose a couple of the permies, great. If a couple of the loans can be returned as well, so much the better. I've a feeling Erol will be looking at senior players and not 'ones for the future', though I wouldn't mind one or two of those at the right price. We need to look forward, beyond the end of the season, though that won't be Erol's brief. Unless we start looking beyond the end of our noses, we're not going to progress. DoF anyone?
