One thing I am really looking forward to is seeing Hume up against Gordon...hoping to see one of his proper thunderous tackles early on in the match.

It's ridiculous how much that lad gets away with, lad at work is a mag and said he has seen him blatantly punch opposition players twice this season with absolutely no repercussions.

    And that’s with VAR!!

What Joe Linton gets away with is just as bad.

Michael Beale on derby day memories

“I’ve had a lot of mentions of Di Canio’s knee slide. I’ve spoken to Jermain Defoe on his memories. I know the significance of this game, everyone around the country does.

“Derbies are what we play for. Everyone involved feels very fortunate.”

I appreciate I’m quoting myself here but I whacked that team down without a huge amount of thought but considering it more since (this game is now taking up my every waking thought (dominates my dreams too!)) I really think it’s the way to go.

They prosper most when I’ve seen them play effectively from getting overloads down the wings. Having Seelt/Hume on one side and O’Nien/Alese on the other should help negate that to an extent.

It means Pritchard is freed up to drift inside as he did against Preston and cause them problems and occupy one of their centre mids (where they’d otherwise have a numerical advantage) and it means that Clarke is able to stay higher up the pitch and not spend the game running back towards his own goal with Trippier or Livramento.

I guess the biggest risk is that the attack is too limited/isolated and we invite too much pressure so it will mean a lot needed from Neil and Ekwah/Bellingham. I feel like Huggins is the biggest miss here, even more so than Roberts.

Anyway, I’m just thinking aloud and passing the time until the match. One thing I can guarantee is that Beale and Dodds know far better than me so I will cede to whatever they decide to do.

Perfect RTB exactly what it says on the tin <laugh>. Let us put on a show, keep the progress going, and back to a level playing field again at Ipswich . OaU

I think it's a good side as, for periods, Pritchard will be part of a 5 man midfield and harassing them as he does. Clarke always pose a threat and should spend the first fifteen minutes trying to get his marker booked imo.

If he can get behind that defence, which is poor on the turn, we can get Rusyn in again imo.

    Great thread @RTB

Can wait for this one. Hope we play well, give 100%, scare the life out of them, Id love a win clearly although I think a draw is more realistic

This is all I want. I want that snivelling little prick who is the poster boy for everything wrong with modern football to get fully Trai’d.

Forcong a move from the club you support, who made you, and badge kissing is despicable to me.

And look at the ****. Clare Balding on the atkins diet.

In a way for them it should be a walkover a bit like us playing Darlington,
So if we get beat it’s no big deal, but if we don’t, I know how I’d feel getting beat off Darlington in the FA cup so I would imagine the Geordie nayshun will implode <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Just forfeit the game. We are already re decorating our stadium to accommodate them. Might as well not turn up.

I don’t think some on here realise what a shock it’s going to be for these young lads facing their first derby, they will either bottle it or absolutely love it, let’s hope they love it<diva>

I'm not as outraged as some about the whole re-decorating for Newcastle thing - I'm more just utterly perplexed. It makes no sense on any level. Newcastle fans won't forget where they are. If they were gonna trash it, they're gonna trash it. All you're doing is inviting horrific PR.

I have my head in my hands at the lack of sense from the football club.
