£35 million and £30 million of it up front.

Who would pay that for a player that hasn't really played in the Premier League that much?

We could change perches name to Tiote and maybe hoodwink the bindippers again? I mean... We convinced them that Mandy could play football!

It could effectively bamboozle players; when they pass Luiz they'll come up against Colo and think 'hang on, I've just passed you' giving us time to clear the ball. In extreme circumstances their heads will pop.
On the subject of Tiote he's had a slow start to the season, got an injury, not sure when he gets back, needs time to bed in again and then heads to the ACON so I think it's more paper talk.
Figures wise they have to ask for a ridiculous price or they risk unsettling and inviting offers for other players in the team.
Next issue is where he goes. Chelsea might need a replacement for Essien but want Modric (and need more attacking players) Cant see them spending over 50 mill this January as well. Man City don't need him unless they just want to stop Man U getting him (who probably do need him, though Jones might get moved forward). Spurs, if they get the money for Modric, but they need that money for Adebayor. No-one else could shell out 20m+.

You can't put a price on Tiote, I'm afraid. He is money.

If Tiote left I would top myself.

I don't want to say anything for certain but I think it will take BIG money to prise him off us. Remember we rejected £30 million for Carroll when he had 5 years on his contract. Tiote has 5.5 years left so it'll need a big bid.

However the Carroll scenario was special circumstances. I think Ashley knew Chelsea were gonna buy Torres for Amy's price + £15 million so he could push Liverpool. All the cards were in his hands.

The thing is, Chelsea still have Essien and that Romeu lad they got from Barca is a DM. Not sure if he would fit in long term at Chelsea

I'm not sure if top clubs would even want Tiote that much. Although he is a very good DM, he doesn't really offer anything going forward, which is probably the difference between him and Essien.

I absolutely hate the thought of losing Tiote, wingers/strikers etc... come and go but its very, very rare to find a defensive midfielder with the same kind of quality of Tiote, I really think even with Carr bringing these great players in we would struggle to find a player in that role thats better than Cheik.

I worry about all this selling club business, its ok buying cheap and selling for vast amounts and replacing them with new hidden gems, but eventually we're going to **** up and buy a few ****e ones and we could find ourselves stagnating and slipping down the table.

Surely it would be better for now to keep the successes we've got whilst unearthing a few more gems and capitalise on the key players we already have now, I mean a good run in the Europa league could bring around 8-10 million extra cash in a season, and finishing in the top half of the table would probably add 2-3 million extra than what we brought in from prize money last season. This over a few seasons would cover the price of any big offers coming in.

If we continue with the players we have and build on that, the increased performances on the pitch will increase the revenue anyway, ticket sales, merchandising sales and this so called advertisement on the stadium name would surely be a more viable way of making money, this way the fat man keeps his wallet happy and we the fans stay happy, thats the way I look at it anyway.

I don't think he'll go lads! I can't imagine him being the most greedy of players and why would anyone in their right mind want to leave the north east for London!

I think it all depends on how we do this season. Keep this form up and get Europa league can't see anyone leaving.

The bottom line is, it's irrelevant if he wants to stay at Newcastle as he'll be forced out by the owner at the first sniff of a big bid.

Money talks louder than anything in football, especially where your owner is concerned, couple that with the inevitably greedy agent Tiote will have and you've got a recipe for a summer sale in my opinion, which is the only reason Tiote is tied to a 37 year contract.

Chelsea need creativity in CM which is why they want Modric, so can't see them coming up with a big bid because they already have Ramires, Mikel and Essien in the Tiote role. Your best bet is your favourite customers again, the bindippers who have a pathetic midfield duo of Lucas and Adam at the minute, before sicknote Gerrard comes back for another 3 games.

I do think Fergie would like Tiote too and I'd love to see him at United, but he just doesn't strike me as a Fergie-esq signing. I'd be more worried from a Newcastle fan's point of view that Cabaye could be heading to United, especially if Liverpool start sniffing around him cos Fergie won't let them have him!

You cant force a player out. We've been trying to do that to Alan Smith for the best part of 2 years now.
