It's already clear that Charlton are not going to sign anybody of quality in this transfer window. Fans are being lied to, as ever. SE7 Out
But we’ve put in lots of bids for very good players. It’s not our fault that the parent clubs won’t sell them for a quarter of what they’re worth. Boo hoo
Maybe we should try to get the band back together, Joe Dodoo Tony Watt Watt Watt Polish Pete Simon Makienok Rod Fanny Vile Traitor Any of them would walk into our team
Appleton obviously watches different games to the rest of us. We look so much better whenever Louis Watson gets good game time…… https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/sport/...as-he-fails-to-feature-in-oxford-loss-4463962
In his 6 starts we average 2.3 points per game. Managers calling out their own players doesn't end well. As Lord Bowyer discovered. Apples must have been the cheapest manager available. If he gets the sack we can expect the same again.
That was the problem with Apples. I tried to get behind him, vehich wasveady at first as we turned a small corner. But nowvhe'd rather play untried 17 year old than Watson who has been generally decent, what do you do? Off load yet another manger, right in the transfer window. And bring in who? The people who thought Aplleton was the pick of the bunch present.... God knows. The clever move was to spend some money and get in a proven manager. Now we are back in groundhog day and we have to start again. This was a pretty obvious scenario, so why did Scott and Methven prefer the cheap option, as it's looking pretty expensive now!
He puts it down to Watson's "poor form ", but Fraser's been in poor form all season and still gets picked even though he shows practically no enthusiasm, which is surely the most important asset a player can have. Bill Shankly thought so anyway.
I've seen this discussed on CL. There is a school of thought that says if he plays more he triggers a clause to keep him with us. But I thought he looked a lot better than a few ofbthe players keeping him out of the team, apart from the Gillingham fiasco, so having Anderson lose confidence to keep Watson out seems foolish at best. In a team devoid of creativity, he had some, so Appleton just doesn't rate him, Appleton can do one!
More clause triggering For f**k sake. No wonder fans are fed up and turning their backs on this farce. Are any of the promotion chasing teams leaving decent players out of their match-day sides because a clause will be triggered? This is exactly why we are going nowhere.
We only have one hope left and that is that the billionaires realise what is happening and sack the entire SMT and start again with a new strategy and a lot more money. But there’s no guarantee that they will do that and I think at the very least they’ll give the SMT more time. At least another full season after this one I’d guess. We have some dark days ahead I’m afraid.
Make you right tbf, although a relegation may make them have a rethink. Scott and Methven will have trouble bulls******* that.
I thought initially that the new owners were football people as opposed to the Samdgaards whose "Premiership in 5 years " ambitions were based on wishful thinking. But they wouldn't have Scott and Methven, who had abysmal records previously, running the club if they knew the business.
The owners do not have experience of running an EFL football club, apart from Charlie. But Charlie supposedly only holds a small percentage share of the company (GFP) which actually owns us, although of course we don’t know if that’s true, or who else is part of GFP, due the Cayman Islands registration. My only hope lies in the possibility that the major shareholders (allegedly three very rich Americans) have enough sense and sway to eventually remove Charlie and the rest of the SMT from running the club and bring in better people. They would also need to substantially increase the budget by agreeing to put in non-refundable donations so that we can spend well above the SCMP amounts dictated by incoming revenue. Whether they actually want to do that is a very big question. We also don’t know anything about who has voting control within GFP. The last thing we were told about that entity was that the billionaires only owned around 33% of it and Charlie around 8% (despite him being just a ‘broker’ throughout the purchase negotiations). But no one really knows who owns us or what rights they have to make decisions. As I say, dark days ahead.
…… getting back to rumours Greg Docherty is very close to signing for us , unaware of any injury concerns
