Does anyone think the English Media's hysterical reaction to Mr Blatter's comment re -racism had as much to do with the English media blaming Blatter for not getting the World Cup finals in 2018 as there condemnation of his attitude to racism.

The uk media assume that everyone else is where the uk is as far as racism is concerned. Lots of countries have still got a way to go.

Blatter, though, has no excuses. He is the head of a global concern and should at the very least be able to say the right things instead of shoot himself in the foot.

Blatter's a prick of that theres no doubt but he never condoned racism. the way the English media made out you'd think he'd blacked up and sang summertime while eating fried chicken

In my opinion I thought Blatter was saying that if a player of a different race came in late with a tackle and the tackled player called him a black bastard.
If the tackled player made it his business to go over at end of match, and apologise for his remarks and shakes hands.
That should be that, no need to go any further.
Obviously if he spends the whole game calling opposing players black........
    That is a different story..

In the first case should he apologise for calling his opponent "black" or "bastard".

Blatter is a dinosaur who should never have been installed as head of FIFA. He should have been put out to grass years ago with the rest of his rag tag band of cronies and leeches, why anyone would want to defend him in any way is a mystery.

Lest you have forgot he said "There is no racism in football".

That is simply a lie, or he is so sheltered from reality that I fear for his sanity, in either case he should have gone.

I honestly doubt it would have been in the news anywhere near as much had it not been for the recent cases in England regarding Terry/Ferdinand and Suarez/Evra, which have caused much more of an issue abroad than the Blatter thing has.

It smacks of "look! look! we like they darki... I mean african guys! But that big bad mean Mr FIFA keeps saying naughty things, so can you not put your focus on him for a bit instead of us jolly old english chaps?!"

Blatter's grasp of English isn't as great as he is with other languages either, which tends to be why the UK associations get a bit more peeved off at his comment. On another note, Blatter is a complete arsehole.

It was stupid and down right wrong, he was rightly riddiculed. In fact if he was in most other sports he would have been forced to walk in disgrace. This proves football still has a massive way to go on racism.

Ah. bollocks you are all taken in by the English media. Within 48 hours of Blatter's musings a Tory MP was asking the serious Fraud Squad to look into corruption over the awarding of the World Cup. Milking the pent up fury of the English public.
England cry fowl over the awarding of the 2018 World Cup Finals, yet Tony Blair and his Government hod no qualms in bribing and buying influence and votes for the 2012 Olympic Games. I think Blatter is popular in his area in the same way as other Sport leaders are popular in their own.
No British Football person has a right to claim unfairness as Britain has four votes when the Country of Britain only deserve 1 vote.
