If we lose this, it shouldn't count as a loss for @......loading...... This is just a bonus round for him.
But I did a bare minimum effort one! I am super confident. We will take this seriously and win. Martin sacrificed the Carabao. This one is going to be a ride.
The last time we played Walsall was in 2011 when we got promoted from Div 1 to the Championship. We have lost 3 and won 11 of the 20 meetings between us. We have never lost at home and drawn 2. The 1950's was not a good decade for us as 2 of those 3 defeats were in 1953 and 1955. The last defeat was at Walsall in the promotion season of 2011 mentioned above. I didn't see us lose very much during those 2 promotion seasons but I was there for this game and we were pretty ****e as I remember. Head to head Games won: 11 Games drawn: 6 Games lost: 3
I think RM will go primarily with the fringe players, with strength on the bench, and hope they can get the job done. If he sends out the first choice, with the intention of resting them once we are in control, what does he do if Walsall park 2 buses and we get to 65/70 minutes and it’s still 0-0?
There are clearly some who could do with a rest and some who don’t and they have tools to assess that. There should be enough experience available to get us through and there will be some who can come on later if required Stu and KWP definitely need a rest Any news on Sam?
Difficult, think it's very important to maintain the unbeaten run, breaking that now would be a real shame and terrible for momentum. But at the same time definitely a good opportunity for some squad rotation and resting, would go mid-strength, Fraser has to start with KWP and Stuart Armstrong watching from the stands. Unsure if it's already been mentioned but interestingly, Walsall's convincing win last time out was achieved with just 34% possession, without looking into that any any great depth it appears they don't mind allowing their opposition to retain the ball and will counter well, the sort of team we don't like playing, see no reason their manager would alter tactics here so much so may prove a tougher test than some of our players may allow for, lets hope not though.
Does anyone know what the rules are, in relation to the number of subs a team can use in an FA Cup match? In other words, how many of our normal first choice team could we hold in reserve, then sub on, during the match?
Quite, of course not, exactly, absolutely nothing to worry about. Not even worth discussing. We're Saints supporters after all
I’m guessing that Che should be fit enough to start this one, having not played as many minutes as most of the others that make up the match day squad, so if he doesn’t feature in the squad Saturday, I will take that to mean that he doesn’t want to be cup tied and plans to be gone this month.
Who’s our youth LB? I have no idea how we will set up, this season I don’t care about the cup. Lumley Brie stephens Simeu youth LB Smallbone SAA Aribo Fraser Adams/Mara I reckon Russell will rest most of the first team. Can see a cupset here.
Just seen an appeal on Facebook for a minutes applause in the 46th minute in memory of a Walsall fan.
