Pretty sure Sessegnon said himself in an interview a couple years ago he believes he’s a full back/ wing back more than a winger.

He’s got the same chance of breaking through at LW as he does at LB though. Son and Solomon will be picked ahead.

He got a lot of calls right but he was a big fan of Winks and famously predicted Skipp as a future Spurs captain - a vision that is sadly receding at a rate of knots.

But his single biggest misjudgement was handing Dier a new contract. That one was unforgivable.

I personally think people look at Jose's exchange with Dele in the Amazon series and extrapolate from there that he is some sort of player guru. I think he's about as good or bad as most other managers tbh.

Not sure about him being a fan of Winks, he had to play him through spells but then did drop him. Hence that Winks interview after a cup game where he was saying he had no idea why he was dropped - well, you’re ****e, mate, that’s why.

I think Conte said similar RE Skipp to be fair. Skipp’s still a decent player though, just completely unsuited to Ange-ball.

It wasn’t just the Dele stuff. He wanted a number of positions strengthened which never really happened. Wanted a striker and got Bergwijn, wanted Skriniar and got Rodon, lol.

IIRC it was Jose who handed Winks the captain's armband for the first time, in that horrible 2-3 loss at Wolves just before lockdown. Selected him ahead of Davies and Dier so make of that what you will.

But totally agree on your other points. The way Levy treated Mourinho was like hiring Lewis Hamilton and then giving him a Nissan Micra to work with.

I think that was in his first season, if you look at the stats for the second season, Winks barely played in the Prem under him.

You're correct. He was ousted by Hojbjerg.

And if you're ousted by a player as error strewn as Hojbjerg, you must be absolutely cack.

It really does as Ten Hag doesn’t want him and multiple Spurs managers haven’t played him.

Being wanted to be a short term back up because someone is injured shows how far his stock has fallen.

A move to a mid table Spanish club would suit him and maybe he can rebuild his career there. He’s not a top level player though

Yeah I dont get that. He hasn’t looked remotely like a good player for more than 5 years.

For me, Sess should move to the championship and try to rebuild his career. Think I saw something the other day that said he has made less than 40 league appearances for Spurs and he joined in 2019, that is ridiculous

    Yep, 38.

Makes Lamela look like Ironman. And at least Lamela was largely good when actually fit too.

Sessegnon has had horrendous luck with injuries, I reckon he has never been fully fit / confident in his own fitness since he has been here, he has probably always been playing in fear of a reoccurrence of injury, hence the indifferent performances / failure to kick on. Hopefully this surgery has sorted out all his problems and he can rediscover the form that prompted us to sign him in the first place, fit and confident I can see him being well suited to Ange`s system. He should get plenty of game time if we qualify for Europe for next season, I may be wrong but I still have hope for Sessegnon.

And they call Darren Anderton sick note.
He played 358 games for Spurs over 12 seasons with basically no European football.
593 career appearances in total. Sick note...

It’s nearly been five years though. He’s not shown anything at all. Time moves quick and Sessegnon looks like he’s missed the boat.

The form that prompted us to sign him in the first place was only ever displayed in the Championship. We should be mindful of that.

Wasn't the first and won't be the last player to look like Messi in the division below but struggle to make the step up.

Was never keen on Sessengon tbh. Saw him play against us at Wembley and he was poor and continued to be throughout his season in the Premier league (18/19 I think) .

Can only remember him having one very good game for us (Southampton 2022/23). Other than that he has only ever looked consistently good in the Championship imho

The fact he arrived in early August yet didn't even get a sub appearance until November due to the hamstring injury he was carrying on arrival not only set the tone for his Spurs career, but also underlines why Poch's tenure spun out of control that season

That being said, Sessegnon delaying surgery on his hamstring until this season kicked off when he really should have had it sorted during the close season so he would potentially would have been back in matchday squads by November is a particularly bad call on his part, especially considering that we had so many players playing through injury last season which saw their form nosedive as a result

    Tom Allnutt at The Times

...well one thing he probably did not enjoy going to school with a name like that...

...but he claims that Bournemouth, Sevilla and Villarreal are all interested on taking Reggie on loan this month

12th in the Prem, 13th in La Liga and 16th in La Liga. That’s the sort of level he’s at these days.

Bournemouth looks a good fit for him at the moment, they are definitely short at LB, and they have played us twice already so he wouldn't have to miss a game!
