Um yeah, mentioned another player to illustrate that age isn't the issue. Legs have gone? Maybe, although my issue with him has always been his injury record, like Gayle previously, he's completely unreliable in the long term and we need a striker who won't miss half the season.
A players legs could go at 31 without any injuries so comparing tells us nothing. Wilsons legs have definitely gone mate he used too be nippy. He's a good finisher still.
My concern pre dates the legs going tbh, look at 21/22, played in less than half the Premier League games due to injury. The first thing we did that January was sign Chris Wood, ie a much stronger player (and actually older than Wilson) who would remain fit and lead the attack, and our season kicked off from there. We need a tougher striker simple as that, Isak also very suceptible to injury.
He's been a good signing but right now the extra 10 million Villa paid for Watkins instead of taking Wilson looks money well spent. I agree we need a better player now and that goes for 3 or 4 1st team positions.
Ooooh, an early 2024 not606 exclusive! So what we saying, Saudi move and then "transformative" striker incoming?
Oh nice another Saudi favour like taking ASM of our hands. It works out for everyone - they get a player above the general quality of their league, said player gets paid an absolute fortune in wages, and we get rid of someone we don't want. Wilson out, Guissary in.
Newcastle would appear to have hit the limit with FFP and will have to fall back for a year or two and go again. It's not rocket science but we're 2 years in and they'll need to wait 3 years at least to go again with any freedom or just keep piss farting around loaning players.
I think he's taking the piss tbh,why wasn't he there last night supporting his team and same goes for this Saturday,he's still getting paid so show you care, just my opinion mind.
Will he be back for Saturday, was it not reported he's out for 2 games?A 8hr flight back, early KO Saturday so he's flying back Thursday?
Selling Wilson was something I'd said they should be looking at in the summer. The timing was right his stock was high and his legs were due to go. If they can get fair market value it makes sense now even though they missed a trick in the summer.
