Damn, was hoping they'd stick with him. Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard not going onto great things in management.
Don't think anyone said we'd definitely move up the table, but just about everyone agreed that we wouldn't with Ainsworth.
Yes, we'd have gone down under Ainsworth and I was initially excited about our prospects under Cifuentes but, apart from a good 45 minutes here and there, we've continued to be very poor and I really don't see a way out unless there's some kind of transfer miracle in January. I've become rather disillusioned with Cifuentes - it must be fair to question a coach whose side can't take or defend corners and who thinks that sticking Adomah in midfield might be a good idea - but it would be madness to think of getting rid of him, so we'll just have to stick it out and hope for the best. Perhaps the club are prepared to accept relegation and have a total restructuring of the squad under less restrictive FFP rules in Div1.
The decent performance at Ipswich persuades me that IF we can find a half-decent striker in the transfer window, Cifuentes can move us out of the bottom three. A decent signing or two, while admittedly difficult to find in Jan, can make or break a season. We need Cif to do something amazing before Feb 1
All is not lost, Lampard early favourite for Brum job. It seems Gerrard is expected to be sacked in Saudi after two months without a win. All these 'star' players fast-tracked into management turning out to be turkeys...
Speculation that Lee Carsley, who has done a great job with the England kids, might be the next Birmingham boss.
