Yeah, I'm not holding out much hope. The only sliver of hope I have is that Klopp fields a weakened XI because they're going to be missing Salah and Endo and they've got the League Cup semi-final leg against Fulham a couple of days after.
Why? I think it’d be a really great opportunity for this group of players to win something. They can’t keep going trophyless each year in pursuit of the CL + PL and end up with nothing, yet expect to keep our best players. Also, we haven’t won enough over the last 15 years to be dismissive of any trophy frankly. This is a competition we absolutely should be hoping and trying to win.
I mean we've seen that winning the FA Cup doesn't translate to winning bigger trophies. Don't get me wrong I'll be interested if we make it to the Final but I'm FAR more excited for the Champions League games coming up. FA Cup feel too much like a distraction.
Have to say, I feel the same way Would love to win the FA cup again, but we kind of own it anyway I think we need to put our best efforts into the CL which I actually think we've got a decent chance of winning if we get our **** together.
I don’t really agree with this logic. We tried to go all out for the league last season by getting dumped out the cups early and look at how that turned out. We ended up with nothing. We need to be taking the cup competitions seriously because we don’t know when our next trophy will be. We should also have a squad to compete on multiple fronts, so throwing away the FA cup just to focus on the CL doesn’t wash with me. We’ve won the FA cup a lot in recent years, but that doesn’t mean we should stop bothering with it. As I said, we haven’t won enough in recent years to justify throwing any competition away so flimsily.
Well we don't. Our forward line looks fatigued as it is. I don't want to see our League and CL runs compromised further because we played a strong side in the FA Cup. First time in the Champions League for what 7 Seasons?.. If you look at the betting odds right now we are one of the favourites. Dream big. I say play the second string in the FA Cup - give the like of Nwaneri a game.
Nah I completely disagree. If we exit the FA Cup early, I’ll be extremely unhappy and I’m sure I won’t be the only one feeling this way. We should be taking it seriously and I expect us to.
We get a good break after this game so I say go for it. I think this will be a good opportunity to beat Liverpool and to actually win a trophy. Champions League will be tough but worry about that when the time comes. Bring back Tierney from his lone spell as well because we are very short of full backs. Arteta needs to rotate a bit better also. We can give players a chance without changing the whole dynamics of the team. Also changes during games should be made sooner. If it ain't working change it.
Am hoping for a 22 man brawl, a lot of red cards and a draw ....and for klopp to deck Arteta... That's the magic of the cup
