We need to recruit properly in the midfield because they really do not protect the back 4. Constantly leave full backs in 1v1s as they don’t get back enough. Had high hopes for it as stated last night, but Slater was both terrible out of possession and in it. Morton cost us by being reckless in his tackling technique (not the first time he’s done it). We also need a full back either side because Christie is ****, Greaves is a centre back. We can’t keep doing what we are doing and relying on others ****ing up their opportunities

Bad blow to lose Morton. Especially with Seri gone to the African Cup. Four games in 10 days stretched the squad to breaking and there will have been some tired legs last night. Rosie said the substitutions were pragmatic ones as the two players were unable to keep going and he obviously wanted to avoid injuries to those players it’s a thinnish squad that needs some attention this month especially at full back and wings. But for me this 4 games in 10 days in winter needs sorting. It’s been played on soaked pitches with ours often the worst, cold conditions and wet. It’s about time we swallowed some tradition and got a decent winter break in this country.

I'm a big fan of McLoughlin.
His blocks (all the central mdfielders) are incredible
Rosie must not like him for some reason

Oh also ! **** VAR. It’s a crock of **** that spoils the game I ****ing hate it. If refs make mistakes and they do the same as players it all tends to even out at this level. Never seen anything that ****s up the beautiful game so badly Rant over.

This has to be the most overly repeated and rubbish saying in the history of football.

Rosenior is very vocal about being a big fan of McLoughlin. It's just that we have three very good centre backs and he's the third best of the three.

It may be irrational, unscientific, pseudo-psychological claptrap and impossible to verify one way or another, but it's still better than VAR.

Whilst the biggest talking points are on that Red card incident and poor display I thought the events going back a few games are more worthy of debate.. Without stating the bleeding obvious Rosenior must realise by now our wingbacks are all over the place and constantly get ghosted due to a lack of pace, ability or simply being played out of position. We can play some lovely stuff at times but as a defensive unit we are as brittle as brandy snap and at this level you get found out very quickly no matter how good you think you are.

    Thoughts?

    I agree with this.

But at the closing of the transfer window I don’t think anyone thought RB was a priority as Christie had such a good year last year.

At least one full back has to be signed in this window.

From what I have seen Christie is a winger who cannot really defend but is being ask to do so. He’s often exposed which is another issue. I’m not going to kill the lad but I’d feel better watching him take players on at the other end of the pitch.

    Why is he picked then?

Is that one for Rosenior or Have we so many injuries it’s a necessity ?

Even with VAR, I don't think that the ref would have reversed his decision, and for all that it looks an incredibly soft red I don't think we'll get it rescinded on appeal either, like coppers, ref's protect each other and there's just enough going on for the FA to back the red card call

Christie couldn’t defend last season either but he could add something to the front line. Now he’s doing neither.

A final thought from me on the red card.....only a few days ago Tufan got Hyam sent off against Blackburn, the second yellow was incredibly soft and i've no doubt in my mind that he could have stayed on his feet, so having a go at Weds players for making the most of the tackle is a tad hypocritical, we need to get much better at playing refs.
