I wouldn't say it "fell apart", it was constantly on the verge of achieving hence the phrase "last piece of the jigsaw" being thrown about so much at the time. The appointment of Houllier both ****ed it and fixed it (killed my joy of watching Liverpool for a while too)
that double manager ****e was utter disrespect and Evans should have walked. but it was player indiscipline that did for Evans really. the last of the boot room but ruddock etc
With me being so young and only just talking an interest in football, I wasn't that interested in the CBs
Well it was down to fitness and discipline imo. when you look back at the state of some of ours compared to utds (and utd had Bruce and pallister who were chunky as well) then really it was down to that level of professionalism we just couldn't bring about.
I remember for quite some time we were barely above relegation zone with Woy. United are not in that bad shape.
I think we're about the same age... But I was older when got hooked on Liverpool For me it was Rafa. I remember watching occasionally in the 80's. But not following close, wasn't true fan, I was a kid and more into Formula One back then. 90s are pretty blank to me because that's when I came to US and it was hard to get football reliably at that time. It was the rise of "unauthorized feeds" during end of Houllier reign that allowed me to watch again and that's when I started watching more religiously and getting really involved with Liverpool. Of course now, with it being legally available easily, I stick to legal ways to watch.
utd are 7th but could easily be level with Chelsea and wolves in the lower half struggle had villa done thier job. it's that close right through the league. if we lose tonight we are looking down at fifth again. it's really down to the fact nobody looks the outstanding bet
This time of the season last year Newcastle had lost only one game, and that was to us.Newcastle has lost eight games already this season, and they have not won at Anfield since 1995. We must do our job tonight.
The finals were entertaining because of the stakes but it was terrible football. Everyone behind the ball, hoof it at Heskey and hope Owen get into the flock on
Given ETH was given 400m to spend compared to Roy picking up poulsen and Voronin on freebies. I’d say they’re comparable.
Voronin (2007) was way before Woy (2010) Woy signed: Poulsen 4.5m Jovanović 0 Joe Cole 0 Brad Jones 2.3m Danny Wilson 2m Konchesky 4m Meireles 11.5m (the one good signing) Aurélio (resigned) Total:24.5m
he didn't sign joe cole. famously poulson was very boastful about must having that player. we don't really know who signed who back then but we kind of can be sure if woy had them before like poo-ulsen and knob-bloody-chesky then he probabaly asked for them. We were in severe financial distress at the time so... not the same as man utd at all.
