I remember the 1st season in the Walkers Stadium and the year after in the Prem. The Kop was superb, consistently very loud, full of atmosphere almost sucking the ball into the net at times. Since these 2 great seasons in our new stadium, a lot of our vocal fans have increasingly moved to L1, K1 and the back of J3 block. This seems to have left the kop mostly silent now except for a few die hard fans in SK3 who do try their best to get 'it' going. Of course not forgetting the Ultra's in G1, but it's just not enough. Finally, The Kop gave us a glimmer of previous glories with, well, at least some noise against Palace. I have watched every home game this year and the last 4 seasons and apart from the odd game, the Kop is silent. It's a worry.

I don't blame the City fans at all. Our away support is both numerous and the atmosphere in these games proves we can match the best, but too often at home the ground is silent, except for the beat of Lee's drum and 300-500 vocal ones next to the away fans.

We need the Kop moving next the away fans. I know for a billion, trillion police and health and safety blar blar reasons this won't happen, but until it does our stadium will never have a cracking atmosphere. You know the sort where home and away fans in 1,000's, not hundreds, spar vocally for their team. The only time the current spread of vocal fans get the ground pumping is when it's full (for example: Man City at home in the cup). L1, K1 & J3 has proved this point. Over time a lot of the vocally passionate ones have migrated over there to be next to the away fans.

Personally I agree with Richie. Our fans could sing more as a unit, get the players going, but I see the current situation as not working and difficult for the fans as it's just pockets of support. To be fair us City fans could equally argue Richie & co need to get us going from the pitch!!!

    Thoughts?

I think the atmosphere could be better, one thing that would improve the atmosphere is cheaper tickets, we will fill the ground and that will create a better atmosphere and more money for the club

To be fair when 27,500 were in the ground against Leeds. Only the few hundred next to the away fans sung. Admittedly we didn't play well, but other than Lee's drum and a few hundred in the blocks next to them, I only heard Leeds singing. I don't disagree about the cheaper tickets, but I think it needs something more.

Just imagine 5,000+ home fans right next to the away fans. With Lee's drum and the others the other side. No doubt it would create a good Atmosphere..

I see you got some negative feedback to this. I do understand that there are players that play better with a good atmosphere and confidence but I find this a little annoying that he should find this a good enough reason for poor performances. Was confidence down at home to reading after just beating Cov away??? I dont think so.

The players still need to give us something to shout about, if the team isnt playing well fans get frustrated and the players sense the negative atmosphere. Thats where you need the leaders in the team to step up

We have one of the biggest average attendances in the Championship and never dipped below 3/4 full for a league game this season so is nothing to do with the amount of bodies in the stadium.

    Main factors are:

    1) Overzealous stewards who tell people to sit down and shut up.
    2) Away fans being at the wrong side of the stadium.
    3) Stadium not being built with acoustics in mind.

There definitely is sound coming from the fans - I work 3 miles from the ground and I hear them through the double glazing!

    1) Stewards have to be that way to please health and safety. I agree though its crap
    2) Away fans have to be that end because its easier for the police and stewards to manage them if they start trouble as they dont have to mix with home fans they can just get them off the buses and into the stadium
    3) Covs ground is the same as ours except their roof it higher, maybe we should of done the same to help keep the noise in the stadium

Sorry Proud - I have to take issue with this - Covs ground is nowhere near the same as ours - There's loads of empty seats in their ground <laugh>

    As I recall
The season we got promoted in 2nd behind pompey we had a great atmosphere with an average attendance of over 29000
If NP gets them winning and going up the table the crowds and then the noise level will increase.
I agree that prices of match tickets are high but ours are by no means the highest and I feel that my season ticket is good value for money

I think you could probably apply that list to the majority of stadiums, we have exactly the same issues at the KC, we're actually trying to move the away fans into a corner, but the old bill in association with the health and safety mob are doing their best to prevent it. There were over 31,000 at Derby on Saturday, but all you could hear were just under 2,000 City fans, I think it's pretty much like that at most games nowadays, the away fans generally out sing the home fans, as long as there's a half decent following.

That was our first year at a new ground, we was winning every week and the club was in the **** of the pitch with administration and the fans rallied around thats why the attendances was so high that year

Away fans are always louder then the home fans, away days are generally better then home games. As Roy Keane said at home you get the prawn sandwich brigade and away you get the real proper fans signing their hearts out

I sit in the Kop, SK1 for reference and theres a few of us that give our vocal support but unfortunatley quite a few that just want to sit down and moan about people standing in front of them...

When i was in Pen 2 at Filbert St, the cop was standing and mainly young men?! this creates a wolf pack mentatlity and more importantly a vocal one.

I believe some 10 plus years on it is up to you young uns! to create the new atomoshere?? and try to bring the sit down fan back into life!!:emoticon-0150-hands

I sit in SK2 and some fans do sign but most of them just sit down for the whole game moaning. I have a know it all sitting behind me but the problem is he knows f all, it does my head in sometimes and i just want to turn around and tell him to shut up
