Are we going to be told off new first team signings tomorrow. I reckon they’re lined up already if not I will be very disappointed as we know we need a 9 a long while back.
Prepare to be disappointed, they won’t announce anymore till they’ve signed them. We aren’t going to sign a load of new players first day of the window. Hopefully we’ll have a couple this window, but can’t see a number 9 as you put it, being one of them. No club is going to let a free scoring centre forward leave until they’ve found a replacement, and anyhow that type of player is well above our budget, especially in January, when prices are traditionally hiked. Remember we are buying young L1,L2 players with good sell-on potential.
Reckon the midfielder from Oxford Cameron Brannagan is coming in and the big striker from AFC Wimbledon Ali Al-Hamadi Kwame Poku Bristol City have been linked with a swoop for the Peterborough United starlet, according to TEAMtalk. However, they aren’t the only club in the frame with West Brom, Stoke City, Sunderland, Ipswich Town and Millwall also mentioned. Rodrigo Muniz The Robins have been credited with an interest in the Fulham striker along with QPR, as per TEAMtalk. The Brazilian attacker spent time on loan at Middlesbrough in the second tier last term.
We’ll see, I don’t think Brannigan would be a good fit personally, too old and hasn’t played championship before, doesn’t fit our profile. I know we’ve been linked with the lad Murphy who’s also a midfielder, so can’t see us signing both, Poku is a midfielder as well. I’d be surprised if Muniz would come here m, or if we’d be able to afford him or his wages
Not a chance, do you have any idea how much that would cost?, even if we could find someone. Those kind of costs are a thing of the past.
not interested in the finance side .. we need a loan signing like Tammy who scored almost every other game... throw away comment by yourself! [ and RP ] ......... THINK...... GET A LOAN PLAYER who for 18 games is going to score 10 or so plus goals which get us to play off's and maybe the prem [ there is only 2 spots available in top 6 to aim for! ] Play off games and a wembly appearance would pay for him . IF WE WERE RUNNERS UP we would still likely make a profit! and next season try again with an even stronger squad than now .. maybe get into top 6 and stay there!
We tried the magic, premier loan arrangement with Ryan Kent and Liverpool under MA/LJ regime and it ended up a failure and costing us over £1/4m plus, we cant afford it, we've just recovered from false illusions and overspend, we can't afford it and should avoid rash expenditure, planned and affordable progress is the only way forward for us.
Obviously if a loan signing would guarantee all you list obviously it would be worth it, that’s if we have the money in the first place. However it doesn’t guarantee anything, if we spend on a loan and we fail to reach the playoffs, then what? . We aren’t going to risk getting into financial trouble, Nige has just spent 2 years getting us back into some sort of financial security and your suggestion risking it all again . For someone who claims to be soo bright, you really do make some dumb suggestions sometimes
There is a saying you can please some of the people some of the time but not all people all of the time. We are very lucky on our board, we have people with varying opinions which is the reason we are so active. There is not a lot alternatives to what we have tried ... probably none! the answer here is can we afford not to? Trawling back through here/ our board almost all have said in one guise or another " a missed opportunity" be it positive or negative! My favourite saying when in my selling phase was " a missed opportunity is worst than buyers remorse, at least if take the opportunity you know ! " It has been stated we have the money [ some £??? in January ] so it becomes a window of "opportunity to be positive with any thing that presents itself !" Your q answers itself nothing is guaranteed! as above comments re Wiz's comments ... A 2 part Q for you ? How many on here have said in the past .. we should have splashed out when the opportunity was seemingly presenting itself [ like January window and in or near top top 6 ? ] and we did nothing. Part 2 is same Q but the opposite way round ... .. when in a good position we sold the family jewels and paid the price! ... and then what? [ your last comment ] well that is half the answer the other half is what if we get into top 6 play off's / wembly [ win or lose! ]
WE AINT GONNA DO IT. We aren’t going to spend a load of money on something that may or may not bring success. You may as well get used to it.
Possibly, but that was then, loan signings weren’t so expensive then either. Times have changed, we also spent £8m on Kalas, that won’t happen now either. We now buy young players, hopefully to improve them and sell them on.
It says in the link who it is, it’s Adam Murphy who failed his medical in the summer so had to sort that. He was apparently at the HPC earlier this month. If we sign Al-Hamadi it’s going to be funny watching RR cheering him on whilst saying send them home.
Your point was about money. Everyone knows Kent was $hite for us, and we all know he was just a tool used by Ashton to try and curry favour with the big boys. Plenty of Championship clubs have loaned players from the PL over the last few seasons without breaking the bank. We have to be financially prudent of course, but we can’t allow previous mistakes to impede our future either.
It was about money, but it was also saying buying in PL loans isn’t necessarily a guarantee of success.
