"They demand protests and outrage when we sell Stewart ... then say nowt when he turns out to be crocked“ I still find it incredible that we got millions for a crocked player and just as astounding that he passed a medical. I do feel a bit sorry for Ross as I think that injuries apart he could have developed into a top class striker. He scored goals, took 2 defenders out of the game and defended set pieces like a seasoned defender. It was strange that AFAIK the injuries resulted from innocuous incidents during warm ups. It's very sad for the lad as he could be finished
This whole 'yes man' ****e is doing my head in. Why would Speakman hire someone who is against the plan? Surely full alignment is the best way to go for absolutely any company? Reducing a coach who has had a 20 year+ career at some of the biggest clubs in the world to a 'yes man' is disingenuous and frankly just proves you are uneducated on the situation and how things actually are in the football world or you are just ignorant.
I'm happy to be corrected by the likes of Fell and Scout who seem to know their stuff ... ... but I never believed Stewart would be a top PL striker. IMO his first touch isn't sure, he's poor with 'one on ones' and doesn't strike the ball cleanly enough.
We were going backwards under Mowbray. We had been for a while. A change was made. Once he's had some time we will know whether it was the right change or not. The toxicity very much comes from us.
Im comfortable where we have got to and where we are going both as a club and the way we are represented on the pitch. . Its a mere 3 years since we had a squad with the likes of Scowen, Power, Mcfadzean, O'Brien. We called Chris Maguire 'The King'. Its light years. I can understand people identifying what is required to get to the next level, and they will be right, but it will happen when it happens. I am fairly sure those at the club are aware of this and working hard to address it. TBH, Dont quite get all the conspiracies around selling off all the clubs assets, yes men, KLD picking the team etc. Will have a dram at NYE and reflect on what has ultimately been a good year for SAFC.
That’s utter bollocks in my opinion. They’ve appointed a head coach who has the highest top flight win percentage in Rangers’ history, had an average Championship side battling near the top of the league in his short tenure and is a very highly regarded coach. Our fans have gone on like we’ve re-appointed Phil Parkinson or worse.
It is only some you’re right but nearly all of the most influential voices (ie WMS and other podcasts and fanzines) don’t have the patience and it’s they that are most likely to shape things to come. Since I’ve had a few drinks I’ll be frank, I think they’re ignorant arseholes and will likely jeopardise and sabotage what is potentially the best thing to happen to us in a generation (actually being run smartly and being an intelligent club).
I don't think Dreyfus will really give a **** if people like WMS are critical. I imagine he'd prefer it everyone was praising the club because it's good PR but I'd say he's got a fair bit of steel to him, is being advised by hardened businessmen, and will continue to make decisions without fretting about what your average idiot would think about it.
As I've had a drink, I can be Frank as well. Probably more Frank Spencer but hey-ho. On the field is very smart, the best I have known but need some flexibility, Brighton, Brentford get numerous mentions but they bought experienced players when needed. That DOESNT MEAN I want money thrown about but there has to be balance. WMS and others would do better if they acknowledged the great stuff whilst highlighting what could be improved. That would be sensible but I don't think sensible gets you clicks and likes (or whatever is is they are after)
Beale saw him play against arsenal 23s last week alongside Rusyn, Hemir and Mayenda. Burstow was comfortably the worst of the 4 in my opinion. Beale is now selecting him ahead of the others - he is clueless this bloke imo. Going backwards.
The 23s runout last week should have done it but it's somehow got him in the team. Worrying decisions.
I agree , 100% we were going backwards under Tone BUT, through various channels coming out of the club whether through journalist or radio , tv etc, the Club were spreading the net far and wide, into Europe and beyond as a few media outlets put, it to choose the next coach .. We must not have had a very big net is my responce.
You have to be kidding mate, It was the Club who made the decision to sack Mowbray, its was the Clubs decision not to buy a recognised goal sorcerer, it was the Clubs decision to give the whole home end of the ground to the Mags mucjh like it was the Clubs desciion to appoint another out of work coach.... Shake yer fecking head before spouting bollocks..
problem is them some are louder then the rest and it's only getting louder, and it will end up getting to the point the fans have chased another owner out, first time in a long time we had a plan and building great foundations for the the future, the same fans who are complaining we're also saying stewert donald and co put us back years, but here we are 3 years later academy 10000% better, trying to hold on to all are exciting young talent giving players we want to stay new contracts one of the most exciting young teams in the EFL, been about 10m+ spent of the academy and stadium and once again in the playoffs mix, but aye clubs a mess and everything about the club is a mess and KLD is just as bad, just because he won't go and buy a proven striker, but let's look at all the strikers the fans wanted simms 8m 3 goals tom cannon 8m none ross stewert 10m played about 30mins just shows you money isn't the be all and end all and sorry that wasn't aimed at you, just a little rant
Agreed on all of that I just feel the big negative is this latest coach isn't going to add anything positive to all the positives you've rightly pointed out which is really frustrating as a more inspired choice could have really galvanized things at this point. It feels like speakman has metaphorically shot the club in the foot to me. Just an opinion.
There are very very few shouting loudly and wanting the owner out, that's an overstatement. There are a fair few with concerns about things, some of which are quite valid. There is as always a middle ground
